Has anyone or is anyone using a Midwife? Is anyone going to Ob-gyn associates in providence? I am thinking of switching from my OB to a midwife and I am wondering if anyone has expirience with the midwife at OB Associates in Prov. Thanks!
I have been going to OBGYN in Providence for years. I always see the midwives. Lucie and Maureen are awesome! I had a premature birth so I saw Dr. Randall who was on call since it was considered high risk. I have friends who have delivered babies with the midwives and had nothing but a great experience with them.
I have heard good things about the midwidfes at OBGYN Associates. However, I also went to their practice first and each time I had to wait over an hour for my appointment, be it with the nurse or the doctor (I am considered high risk so no midwife for me). I specifically asked the receptionist if this was normal and she said no - only to have me waiting over an hour again for my next appointment! The waiting room is always crowded. If you schedule can handle it, it might not be an issue for you.
I eventually transferred out and went to Center for OB GYN, which I am really happy about. Their practice is very modern and they take you in on time. They also have midwifes there, in case you want to check it out. Good luck!
I used to go to OB GYN Associates, but was never really thrilled with my midwife there...for various reasons. I had had been on the fence for awhile about switching (my husband and I are currently ttc), but finally made the switch after it was discovered that OBGYN Assoc. had been doing some very unethical practices regarding IUDS and insurance fraud.
I know go to Center for OB-GYN and see Jennifer Sunderland. I LOVE IT THERE!!! It's a great practice--very comfortable, pleasant, timely. I had also worked as a mental health case manager and several of my clients went there...they were always treated so well and with respect--which really goes far. They're in Providence, on Promenade and there's always a ton of parking and it's just a really great place!
Hi! I currently go to OB GYN Associates and see the midwives but the two people who I saw with my first child are no longer there. I'm now seeing someone completely different and miss Jennifer S. I wonder if I can transfer at 10 weeks? What kind of stuff has been going on at OB GYN Assoc?
Jennifer is so great! I would think that you could easily switch at 10 weeks--and the office is so great there as well...
They were using non-fda approved iud's...the medical risk was most likely low; however, the principle of them doing that is what bugs me PLUS they they were charging insurance for an FDA approved price (and for those on medicare, they were charging for the full price--medicare doesn't cover anything that's not fda approved!) It's just really unethical...in my opinion!
