I know, I know... a lot of you are really into organic and totally healthy foods for your LOs. Jackson does eat mostly healthy foods, but I am also realistic and know that I am sending him to daycare where he will be eating some processed foods too.
I was having a hot dog yesterday, so I gave him a few pieces sans skin. He seemed to really like it.
Re: Have you given LO hot dogs yet?
DD had some cut up into little pieces when we were at a bbq a couple of weeks ago. She liked it.
They can't eat perfectly all the time!
Oohhh I will have to look for those! Although we always by Kosher, so I wonder if they have Kosher ones like that. Do you know the brand?
I don't eat them very often because it's the nitrates and the skin that always get me!
This post made me laugh. When Lincoln was probably all of 4 months old, my husband's friend had a BBQ at this house. My husband is the only of his friends married or with a baby, so they are all kind of clueless.
His friend, with a completely honest and good heart, offered to put a hot dog on the grill with no sauce for the baby. He wasn't even eating purees yet, lol.
Could have written this word for word. ?

My mom was the same way with us, and as I grew up I tried a lot of foods that I had never had, that I loved. I give LO food that even I don't like. Like peas. He loves peas.
I grew up as kind of a picky eater. There were a lot of things that I just didn't eat in my house. It was really difficult going over to friends and not liking the food that they were serving. I want DS to like as many foods as possible, so I don't limit his options. eg.) I will not eat ground beef, but DS loves it. I've really had to work on expanding my palate as an adult.
No. If you want to feed your baby that stuff, fine but mine will never eat a hot dog in my presence.
Even the ones from WF or TJs might be really high in sodium so I would read the label.
OMG you poisoned your bebeh! HOT DOGS!????
Just kidding. Yes, she's had hotdogs and bologna and all kinds of other stuff that technically isn't healthy. Over our vacation this weekend she had ice cream and her eyes almost bugged out of her head.
Yes, we've given him hot dogs a few times. They're easy for when the protein we're eating at dinner isn't something we'd give him or it's just not ready yet when it's time for him to eat.
We eat really healthfully and always will, but I'm not concerned if he eats foods that are bad for him once in awhile - everything in moderation!
This is kind of where I am. He hasn't had it because I don't like them, but I also don't want him to be as picky of an eater as I am so I guess next time we are somewhere with them he'll have some.

Answers like this make me LOL. You cannot keep your child sheltered forever.
My diet is really varied. There are very few foods that I don't eat because I don't like them. In fact, the only veggie I don't eat (that I can think of) is beets and I've been experimenting with those in an effort to get that into my diet as well. If I don't eat something, it's for a reason. I don't eat hotdogs because it's processed crap and I don't feel like I need to bring processed crap into my house just so that LO can try it. There are several foods that fall into this category - soda, lunchmeat, hot dogs, etc. The reason I say "I'm not opposed" is that while I don't eat these things and won't buy these things, they are also not *forbidden*. I don't think that forbidding foods is a healthy attitude. If there is a BBQ and LO wants a hotdog, he is more than welcome to go for it. It's a special occasion food. And even *I* will eat a hotdog on a camping trip. It is must have campfire fare.
Sorry for the o/t rambling.

Well, I can keep him sheltered from hot dogs for as long as I buy the groceries and feed him.
My almost 10 month old still has no teeth!
