I've been MIA since Adrian's birthday because my mom is visiting until Tuesday so we've been busy sightseeing. Plus, Adrian got sick the day after his birthday party. He had a blast (see pics) on his birthday at our community pool but I don't know if he caught a virus or he had severe indigestion from the cake's icing (it was very greasy) because he refused to eat anything for 3 days and barely drank milk. All he wanted was water and he woke up middle of the night crying like he was in pain. It was awful. We took him to the pedi and she couldn't find anything (no ear infection or sore throat and his lungs were clear)
Re: First birthday (yeah! PIP) and first illness (boo!)
I forgot to finish my story, lol. Anyway, the pedi said it might be a virus so maybe he caught something from a kid at the party. He also ran a fever those days he was sick, so it's very likely.
The good thing is he seems better now. Today he slept a really long afternoon nap and was very cheerful when he woke up. I guess it's not bad that he didn't get sick at all his entire first year but what a crappy milestone!
I can't believe I have a toddler already, this past year has gone by super fast.
Oh I am so sorry the little guy was so sick! I am glad he is feeling better though.
The pictures are great! Looks like he and everyone had a fun time!
LOVE the cake!!! This is my big thing for H's party. Not sure why but I am stuck on the cake.
Oh and I just bought H the same shirt for his birthday! heehee
LOVE the pics! You both look great! I absolutely love his cake! Tacky question: Was it expensive? I am attempting to make Jace's because I thought it would be a cool tradition to start but now I think I am a little too overwhelmed at the thought of fondant.
PS. Are you loving SA? I hope so. As I've said before, it's one of my favorite cities!
Yay Adrian! Great pics, Christina!
And boo to indigestion.

The cake was originally supposed to be a 6" layer on top and 8" on the bottom but I guess the woman got excited making it and she made it twice the size, at 10" on top and 12" on bottom. Needless to say, most of it was leftover since we didn't have too many people. The inside was delicious (top was chocolate with fudge filling, bottom was white with strawberry) but the buttercream icing was really greasy and sticky. I didn't realize it until I tried to clean the figurines at home... it didn't come off! I think that might have been what made A sick. It cost $48 and I had to get the Pooh figurines (another $12.50). But like I said, it was supposed to be smaller, the size she gave me was probably worth twice as much. I'm going with a simple sheet cake next year, though, that icing was not good.
That shirt was awesome, Robyn mailed hers to me. I would mail it forward but I think now it looks too used after a few washings (I had to wash it a couple times to get the icing off).
I am SO glad it got there on time and that it fit! And two boys, born 10 days apart, sharing the shirt makes me very happy.
That cake was awesome! Aaron's sheet cake from Shop Rite was about $45. I had too much leftover, too. But I brought it to the office the Monday after his birthday and the leftovers were eaten.
