pre-pg weight, but look different

Anyone feel like, even though they are at the pre-pg weight, their hips look different?  I am not a big girl by any means, but I feel like my thighs/hips, and lower back area are permanently different.  This is my second child, and maybe I am being too hard on myself.  My skin isn't "loose" so to speak, just look a little "softer." I guess the good news is, I still can fit into my clothes, but they fit a little different?

I am only 1 month post baby, so maybe I should give it a little time???

Re: pre-pg weight, but look different

  • So funny....I was just talking about this with my husband this morning.  After my 1st baby I got back down to my pre-pregnancy weight within a few months... but NONE of my jeans fit the same.  I literally got rid of every single pair... I was the same weight, maybe just a few pounds less, but my body shape really changed.  This may sound weird, but I swear my hips actually shrunk after having a baby... and I had no hips as it is, so this is really frustrating for me bc i can never find a pair of pants that fit right...  Now i am pg with my second, so we will see what happens this time around.  I guess the best thing to do is embrace your new figure and use the excuse to buy some new clothes to flatter it!!

  • My doctor told me it takes 4-6 months at least for your hips to return to their rightful place. You are WAY early. I wouldn't worry about it yet.
  • Yes! My DS is 2 so I know it didn't go back to "normal" for me. Like you said, my weight is the same, but my hips and lower back look different. It's like there is extra "squishiness" there or something. I used to wear super, super low rise pants and now they seem to squeeze in the problem area whereas, I used to love them! Jeez!  But, like PP said, one month out is really soon. It takes a  while for things to go back. I am 6 weeks pg with my 2nd  and am slightly concerned about what will happen to my body this time around. LOL! Like you said, I am the same size and weight, just shaped a little differently.
  • My body is def different in the stomach area post preg.

I used to have a flat stomach...and I was able to wear 2-pieces.  Now even when I get back prepreg you won't see me walking around unless this stomach is covered!

Now hips?  Hmmm...you being only 4 weeks out I would say give yourself at least a year to get back to your weight.   Why a year?  Cause you sound really hard on yourself.  Enjoy mommyhood :)
