Do any of you have problems with keeping LO up for a bedtime routine? MY LO wants to go to sleep before 8 pm and I would like him to stay up until 10 pm but even 9 pm would be nice. What time do you normally start a bedtime routine and what time does LO usually go down for the night?

Re: keeping LO awake for bedtime routine
holy cow! Don't force your kid to stay up that late. If LO is sleeping, let him/her sleep.
10 is really late for most babies. A few naturally stay up that late, but its rare.
Dd goes to bed at 8. Thats when she is tired. We start the routine at 7:30
So when your LO goes to sleep at 8 do they wake up like mine around 1 and then 4? The night I got LO to bed at 10 he slept til 4 which was better?
We used to try for an 8 pm bedtime but realized DS was just too tired....he set his own bedtime finally as we realized it was just too late for him...we now start bedtime at 6:30 - 7 and he is out no later than 7:30....he sleeps until 6-7am....I have also read that the earlier babies go to bed, the longer they sleep.....

Until last week, yes.
But now she STTN.
Honestly, I found that after a week or two of making sure she went to bed when she was tired, she slept MUCH better than if she stayed up too late.
Just because it is inconvenient for you to wake up twice at night doesn't mean you should force your child to stay up later than is healthy for him. If he naturally feels sleepy at 10pm, I have no problem with it, however, if LO is ready to sleep earlier you should let him sleep!
