Good luck Applecider. I'll always have a special place in my knot/bumpie heart for you. You were the one to send me my first wedding pic back in 06. when I got married at the yacht club, you could see it from where you lived. Boy has life changed since the Knot days. Have a safe trip and I hope you'll love cali.

Wow that was fast!!! Good luck with the move, I hope you'll stick around here!
Lynchie and I share a brain. This is totally what I was going to write, word-for-word. Good luck. I will be thinking of you. I hope you drop in and say hi, once you are settled.

Try to remember, if/when you're feeling "disconnected" - EVERYONE IN CALI feels that way. For some reason everyone keeps everyone else at arm's length. Fences, shades drawn, etc. I think a lot of people are scared to let people in and feel vulnerable. After 5 years there, I still only have about 3 total friends I could REALLY call my friends.
Make sure to get immersed in mommy/family things. Check out meetup.com and don't be scared to just talk to people at the park because its not like here, they won't talk to you! Break the ice by telling them you just moved here from Washington State and WOW things are different - they'll LOVE to hear you're not native (honestly, I think "being from somewhere else" was always an asset to me).
I agree with the Sea World/Wild Animal Park/Zoo passes. They have California deals (like you get discounts for being local) so switch your license right away (not to mention the cops are murder on that stuff down there).
I also rec checking out local blogs (similar to those done by awesome people like Stella for local mamas), the paper's "Calendar" section, and as always Mission Beach is a FUN FUN FUN place to hang.
Make sure to really "plug in" as soon as possible - it helps from getting lonely and feeling very small in such a large place.
You're going to love it and remember, even if its not perm - LIFE IS AN ADVENTURE!!!! Take it from the gal who has moved her 2 year old across the country 3 times in her baby-short life! We are nothing if we don't have thrill
Remember, we're always here!!!! ENJOY YOUR ADVENTURE!!!!!!
Have a safe trip and don't be a stranger around here!

Re: We're moving to Cali this week!
Get yourself a Zoo Pass and a Sea World pass (watch for the deals--don't pay retail!) and Vioal! San Diego Mama!
Have a safe trip.
