Babies: 3 - 6 Months

so OVER it - hair loss

Okay a few weeks of "sheading" I could of dealt with but this is insane!  Handfuls of hair everytime I wash and/or brush, not clumps, but a lot of it.  It's been weeks now.

My OB suggested going off of birth control to help it stop, but I don't think its helped.

Depending on how I part my hair, I can now see my scalp!

Hair, hair everywhere!  I have to vacuum daily.  After I shower I comb my hair outside, just like people brush their dogs outside... its so pathetic.  There are tufts of my hair all over the lawn.

I've been trying to wear it up to keep it off of me and the baby.  My bun is the size of a large egg. ( and I have long hair ) It's so sad:(

Should I just cut it short and buy a wig?

Anyone?  Does it stop eventually?

  • I'm so ready for the hair loss to end too, but I have no idea how long it goes on for.  I just hate the fact that I find it in DS hands and feet.

And don't worry too much, I don't think you'll actually go bald.  But I'm sorry it's freaking you out.

  • This may sound crazy but ever since I read in "happiest baby on the block" about hairs possibly getting rapped around his little penis, I'm totally paranoid about it!

I'm always on the look out for the "penis guillotine" hairs!

I don't think I can be any more careful, there's just hair everywhere.

woah... what is the story with this?  i've never heard this one...

  • Yes, I want to know when it stops too!  It's NASTY!
  • Are you taking vitamins?

  • I didn't start with long hair, but I got a hair cut and I'm glad i did! The amount of hair seems so less! It is getting tiring, though.

I don't think vitamins will help much. Hair loss is caused by hormone changes, isn't it? There aren't hormones in vitamins.

My ob and the pedi told me that staying on prenatal vitamins should help reduce the amount of hair loss. I have no idea if it works but I am trying it.

  • It will stop. I forget how long it lasted after DS#1 - maybe a month or two. My hairdresser told me it would seem like more shedding if I wore it in a ponytail because whenever I took off the band all the hair that would've shedded throughout the day came out at once.

Oh, and that thing about hairs wrapping around the baby's penis seems pretty far out to me. I mean, it could happen, but really??? how often?

  • I'm with you....my hair has been falling out like crazy. I have really fine hair to begin with, so I feel like I'm going bald. I hope it goes back to normal soon!

  • I don't think the PNV make a difference, I take them and my hair still falls out all the time. I can't stand when I feel it on my feet from the carpet!  Plus my new hair growth is coming in much darker and with more gray than before. yuck!
