1st Trimester

Anyone had experience with bleeding?!

I had brown spotting yesterday.  This morning I had bright red but went back to just brown.  Talked to Dr. he said the only symptom of a miscarriage that I have is the bleeding (which is a positive sign) - anyone else have experience with this?!  And did everything turn out alright?  TIA!

Re: Anyone had experience with bleeding?!

  • I have been spotting on and off since I was 5 weeks.  It has not been every day, mostly brown and pink with occasional red, and I have been put on pelvic rest until I can go 10 days without spotting, which has not happened.  Though I do have a perfectly healthy baby in there.  Good luck!

  • I had bright red spotting at 7 weeks, I went to the ER and they told me everything was fine, and the doctor told me it was normally normal.  They also did an U/S and the baby was perfect.  I haven't had any since then and the doctor tells me everything is fine...so I try not to worry but its hard still!

  • I had spotting with DD at 5 weeks, and with DS at 18 weeks. DD is a healthy 10 month old, and DS is still in there kicking away!

What does "pelvic rest" consist of???

  • Are they bringing you in for an ultrasound?  I had bleeding with O and with this PG, but they did an ultrasound ASAP to rule out any problems.  Had a sub chorionic hematoma both times.
  • I had a lot of red (enough to be dripping into the toilet) at 7 weeks.  The Dr asked if I passed any tissue and I didn't.  I waited until my 8 week appointment  to go in and everything was fine!

Generally no sex and nothing in the vagina.  Sometimes also no orgasm at all.

  • I started spotting brown around week 5, it went away and came back at 7 weeks and spotted red for 2 days then brown for a week. I was clear for 3 days and then I had red bleeding and passed a clot at 8 weeks. The doctor put me on pelvic bed rest, the baby looks great and everything is progressing well. When I went for an internal exam she found a small bleed that she was able to quarterize but I am still spotting brown. Its frustrating because you immediately feel like something is wrong when you see anytime of blood whether its red or brown. But as long as the baby is growing and healthy I am trying to keep upbeat and positive.

no sex, no exercise, generally taking it easy, no lifting nothing that would "jar" your pelvis

Yes, I need to call the dr office in the morning.  I will know more then.

Pelvic rest means that the dr has told us no sex.  We have not had sex since I was 4 weeks pg.

  • Also I can not lift anything over 8 pounds, which has not been easy.  LOL.  And as a pp said, no exercise.

  • When I was pregnant with DD I had spotting nonstop from 4-6 weeks, then I had a really bad episode of heavy, bright-red, clotty bleeding at 6 weeks. I was terrified, thought I had miscarried, etc. They checked my HcG levels, did an ultrasound at 7 weeks, and told me everything was fine. Obviously, DD is a happy, healthy toddler so everything worked out okay. GL!

  • I had spotting with DS that lasted for maybe a week and everything turned out fine.  I'm still waiting to see what happens with my bleeding this time around.  This time is turning out to be more worrisome because I had wacky hCG levels and my bleeding is more red this time.
  • I've had bleeding with both my pregnancies. ?My first was bright red blood at 7.5 weeks with DS... I was on pelvic rest until 12 weeks but everything turned out fine. ?This time, it was bleeding at 6.5 weeks (I'm 8 weeks today) and we had an U/S and saw the heartbeat. ?This time pelvic rest for one week, and if I have another instance it'll be until 12 weeks.? Obviously no promises yet about outcome, but I'm worrying as little as possible. ?In my experience, as soon as I mentioned bleeding my doc scheduled an ultrasound-- I would ask for one to calm your fears. ?
