If your house is clean.....

How do you do it?  We're REALLY struggling to get everything done.  Every weekend something goes undone and there's just got to be a better way.  What's your method or schedule?

P.S.  We both work so this question is geared more towards full time working families.

Re: If your house is clean.....

  • I am a SAHM, but I usually do chores like vacuuming while wearing DS in the ergo.  HTH

  • We had to give in and get a cleaning lady.  She comes on Friday and does the deep cleaning and the laundry.  She is here from 8 to 5.

During the week, we maintain it as much as possible.

Where we live, it's between $100 to $130 a week for a cleaning lady.

  • Its never as clean as I'd like it to be.  Every once in awhile I'll get an itch to really clean while I'm home on the weekends but thats a rare occasion now that DS is mobile.

When I get home during the week, the last thing I wanna do is clean.  I'm usually a clean freak but I've been letting a lot of things slide since Tooter Man arrived.

  • I have a cleaning lady but I swear I feel within 15 mins of her being here the house is cluttered.  We need to bigger house to store all of DDs things LOL.

  • I do one chore a day.  Its literally the only way to get things done.  I vacuum every Sunday, dust on Monday, hard floors on Tuesday, clean the fridge/microwave, etc on Wednesday, wipe down glass and mirrors on Thursday, and bathrooms on Friday night.  I sit on my butt as much as I can on Saturday though :)   I also do one load of laundry most days, too.  Its a lot after working all day and then cooking dinner and taking care of twins but if I stick to the schedule, it does get done.

  • It is hard as hell but for the most part we don't go to sleep until the living room and kitchen is clean and on the weekends we do the rest of the house. We also switch up on who cleans what, most of the things were picking up is baby related.

  • We only get things done, because we alternate picking up during the week. This includes dishes, toys, laundry, sweeping, vaccuming and moping. We have dogs and the vaccuming is a must. Then on Saturday morning we do a good cleaning to the rest of the house.

This only keeps the house okay. It's not spic and span.

This is us too. We do one thing every evening when we get home, takes about 30-45 min. Sunday-dust/laundry, Monday sweep, Tuesday- glass & tile floors, Wednesday, Laundry/Bathrooms, Thursday Toys(bleach/clean), Friday sweep front porch/outside duties. Saturday RELAX/HAVE FUN!!!

We do dishes/dinner nightly. I also keep clorox wipes in both bathrooms/kitchen and wipe things down after using them. Keeps it MUCH cleaner and its easy to do! :)

I am working on getting a hang of a plan like this!  It helps to think in chunks and then it doesnt take as long.  Over the summer I learned how to manage the dishes and laundry and I feel that this is the only way to get a handle on things.  It is so much when you work.

  • I always pick up after I put DS to bed while DH is giving DS his bath. I spend that 15 minutes straighting up and I always spend about an hour ever other night mad cleaning and enlist the help of DH and we just really concetrate on cleaning during that time. It isn't that hard. Just make it a priority! GOOD LUCK!

WOAH!  Twins!  I have no excuses at this point....

  • On my days off, I will clean during nap time or after she's gone to bed (7pm) and sometimes if it's something I can do while she's awake, like dusting or sweeping or something, I'll do it while she's playing/entertained.
