OWWWWIEEEE (vent)

Ugh, my LO is nursing non stop due to teething two more teeth simultaneously...she isnt biting but her latch is dreadful and painful!! Every time she gives me the milk sign and tries to climb into my lap, I cringe. I dont want to be like that, but man my nipples are sore. ::: sigh ::: really no point to this post other than to whine and not be told "you shouldnt still be nursing her anyway" ...Thanks for the vent!

  • I'm right there with you!  I often have to relatch him now.

  • DS's first tooth is coming in and I am dreading nursing with teeth!
  • We go through phases where my nipples are sore due to increased BFing (increase in demand due to teething).  At first, I rolled with it and nursed as she needed.  Now, I set personal boundaries and stick to only nursing in the morning (right after she wakes up), before her nap, 1x mid-afternoon, and right before bed.  I tell her, "I know you want to nurse because your gums hurt but I am not going to allow you to nurse right now.  Here is an XYZ (teething ring, cloth, etc) for you to chew instead" (or some version of that). I started doing that when she was about 14/15 months.  It seems to work well and has also stopped the constant errr 'demanding' for lack of a better term.  She respects my 'no' or 'my space'.  Sore nipples are not much of an issue anymore (for now, anyway).  This is just an idea, do what works for you (of course!).
  • I feel your pain.  DD needed to nurse all night long last night.  It took forever for her to settle down and fall asleep and then every time I tried to unlatch her, she got so restless and was keeping everyone up.  Now I'm tired and sore and thinking about how nice it would be to have a baby who slept in a crib.  Preferably a crib that is very far away from me and my boobs.  A cup of coffee should help that problem, though...
