Cramping = crappy nights sleep

I did so much work around the house yesterday to get ready for DH's 30th birthday party that we're having today. Needless to say I was completely exhausted afterward and settled into bed around 10pm, ready for a good nights sleep. Instead, I woke up about every hour with severe cramping on my left side, which is strange because usually my RLP is on my right. I have no idea what it was. I ended up getting up at 3:30am and trying to sleep sitting up on the couch. Thankfully that helped a little and I was able to get maybe 2 hrs of sleep total. I'm going to be good for nothing today and we have about 50 people coming over! I'm just hoping it doesn't come back during the day today!

Is anyone else crampy like this? It didn't feel like menstrual cramps, it was more sharp than dull.

  • I get the sharp crampy pains, but I have endo and LOTS of adhesions from my prior section and other surgeries.

  • drink lots and lots of water. Our birthing teacher told us you can get crampy from lack of hydration.

  • Ugh I totally hear you-I've had a HORRIBLE time trying to get comfortable lately, and cramps have played a big part of that. It's always in my lower abdomen, and naturally they get worse when I'm trying to sleep at night. Last night I was so exhausted (hadn't really slept more than 5 hours a night for a week) I just started crying. Poor DH got really worried, and spent 20 minutes propping up pillows around me until I was able to sleep comfortably. I'm going to echo the pp about water intake; I was kind of bad about the 8 glasses a day, but once I started up again it seemed to help a little.

  • This exact same thing happend to me a few weeks ago. I was on a work picnic committee and spent 6 hours putting up tables, running around, cleaning, etc. My back was aching so bad during the drive home that my legs were shaking. I went right to bed and ended up waking up every couple of hours from pain in my stomach and also my neck. I freaked out and did a little research and found out that I just overdid it. I was miserable. I spent the next day relaxing and was able to sleep good the next night. Good luck. I hope you feel better soon!

  • Thanks for the suggestions! I tried to drink as much as possible today, and its been okay. I've had some cramping and I am completely exhausted, but its much better than it was last night!
