Babies: 3 - 6 Months

Eldin still can't roll that well.

He keeps trying but he cannot seem to get enough momentum to finish the roll. Any tips on helping him along or should I just keep letting him do his own thing?

  • Just let him go at his own pace.  Maybe put a toy to one side so he has something to roll towards, but that doesn't work for DS because he just doesn't care. He'll go from belly to back, but only when he's in the mood.

  • DD was rolling from tummy to back around 2.5 months, but hasn't done it at least in a month.  I think before, her head was too heavy for her and it rolled her over.  She hasn't rolled back to tummy yet either.  She gets about half way, but not all the way.  Sometimes when I play with her, I roll her over to give her the idea, but most of the time I let her do her own thing.  I figure she'll eventually get the hang of it.

  • You can always "help" him so he gets the hang of it.  My DD did things on her own and this week has been rolling all over the LR.  I bet she crawls before she sits at this rate.

This exactly. I'll get all excited when he rolls, but he only seems to do it once a week. If I catch him starting to rolls he'll just smile at me and go back on his belly.

  • My DS starting rolling from back to belly around 4 months but took a lot of struggle but with a lot of struggle he became very good at it and now we can't keep him off his stomach ( he now sleeps on his stomach) He also doesn't really roll back much b/c he loves being on his stomach so much. I am not sure how old your LO is but don't stress too much just spend a lot of time on the ground.

  • Weird analogy here.  I'm pretty much going to treat it like a butterfly forming.  When she's ready and her muscles/head control are developed enough, she will do it on her own.
