Cloth Diapering

if you use tea tree oil. . .

How do you combat the smell? I just put some in a solution, and now we've got all the windows open and i threw out the container I had put it in because the smell is so potent i could taste it! I probably put too much in it, but even after dumping it all out and just putting in baby wash, the smell still lingered all over the house.  I was just going to use a solution of tea tree oil and baby wash. Any tips?

I want to use it because I just spent 8 bucks on it and I really like the california baby diaper spray (with tea tree oil in it), but it's like 10 bucks a bottle, and i figure i can save money if i just stick to my own solution with similar ingredients.

Re: if you use tea tree oil. . .

  • Yeah, I use it very sparingly... I typically put ONE drop of TTO in a standard-sized peri bottle that is full of water and liquid soap. And even then, it's a little strong.

  • Only a couple of drops are needed.  I use it for cleaning solution around the house with water and vinegar.

  • I use it in my wipes solution. 10-12 drops in a 2 liter bottle along with 1/2c baby body wash, and 1/2c baby oil. The rest is warm water.
