Pumping mom's?

Can I reuse thawed breastmilk if it was not entirely used in a feeding?

My dad warmed 6ounces of breastmilk to feed DS tonight before bed. He only took/ate 2 ounces. He then put the unused portion in the fridge. Can I used this unused portion tomorrow night for his feeding?

Thanks!

I did look it up on Kellymom, but it seems to be inconsistent.

  • My understanding is that it can be used for the next feeding (within four hours) but I wouldn't bet my life on it.

  • no it can't be used tomorrow night because you have to use it w/in 24 hours of being thawed.

I would however be comfortable using it for his next feeding.

  • No.  My understanding is you are supposed to just use it for the one feeding & throw the rest away.
