I'm a first time mom too but when my sister was pregnant, she used hemp body butter and swore by it. My sister ended up with like 3 microscopic stretch marks on her belly. But keep in mind genetics plays a part in that too.

I used Palmers coco butter but honestly, I think it really depends on genetics. I didn't get a single stretch mark anywhere with my first pregnancy and neither did my sister, but I know she got a few the second time around that eventually faded but I won't hold my breath with this one : /
I don't know if I really believe any product can prevent stretch marks. The one thing I learned is you are never "safe" from not getting them. I made it through my pregnancy without stretch marks, but ended up with 3 on my stomach AFTER delivering DD.
With my first, I used palmer's coco butter lotion everyday and got one stretch mark. With my second, I was lazy and didn't use the lotion and I only got a couple more. They're all faded now. I definitely think genetics plays a part (my mom had 4 kids and not one stretch mark), but the creams mentioned above from the previous posters can't hurt!
I used coco butter to help relieve the itching. I honestly wouldn't use anything with the expectation that it'll prevent stretch marks. You'll get them no matter what if that is whats meant to be.
This is my third pregnancy and I have hardly any marks. I used coco butter and shea cream. Also Restoration Hardware has this pretty awesome cream called "No Crack Cream" that works wonders. Hope this helps.
Bio-oil works!!! it is the hot item to use in the Uk and for that reason was recommended to me from my family who all live there when I was pg with my twins. I never got one stretch mark and used it from about week 10 on and about two months after. This time I used it earlier and my fingers are crossed again. You can buy it on line and I also found it in target.
With my first I used Bella B's Honey Tummy Butter. I didn't get a single stretch mark, my sister on the other hand got a ton of them. I also think genetics plays a big role in it, but I do think that if you consistently keep your skin really moisturized, that it will help the elasticity and decrease the amount you would get. I am using it again this time around. I like that my skin feels really moisturized all day without feeling greasy, plus it really helps with the itching.
Re: Best stretch mark oil/cream?
I'm not a medical expert, but I think it just depends on genetics. If you are going to get them, cream isn't going to do you much good.
I used coco butter religiously and I look like I've been attacked by a wild cat.
There's a badasss cream called 'Good Genes' that works wonders.
Ingredients are DNA and RNA, and a bunch of other crap. I got mine for free, but I'm still waiting to see if it's a good batch.
Hmmmm...I might have to give that a try!!
nothing you can rub on is going to decide whether you get them or not. It is mostly genetics.
I came away with 1 small stretch mark and I consider myself INCREDIBLY lucky.
But my mom was the same way....
