Looking for some types of foods that I can feed my LO. She LOVES to eat and I want to give her more finger foods, but I'm a bit nervous b/c she doesn't have ANY teeth yet! She eats what I've given her like a champ - bananas, berries, puffs, biter biscuits...but I'm at a loss for what other things I can give her while she's still toothless ![]()
Any input? TIA!!
Re: Finger Food ideas for 8 month old
Babies mash with their jaws, not their teeth at this stage anyway so you can give her just about anything.
I do black beans, pasta, turkey, these things we have locally called CoCo Pops - basically a HUGE rice cake that melts in her mouth, tiny bits of waffle or whole grain toast...
Keep in mind that when she does get teeth they will only be tearing teeth not chewing teeth
Those of us who do BLW can back up just how much a baby can eat without teeth!
Some great options: sandwich (1 piece bread with spread of any kind, crust cut off then cut into bits) the bread is a fantastic carrier for all kinds of stuff: hummus, preserves, soft cheeses, apple butter, etc, fresh fruit cut into bits, ground beef, ground turkey, scrambled egg, cheese bits.....
Yep teeth don't matter a bit. My DD chews like a champ with NO teeth. Try toast squares spread with fruit puree, pasta, rice, ground beef, chicken (boiled and cut up super small), diced fruit, steamed and diced veggies.....
