When did you share the news?

DH and I agreed to wait to tell anyone (including family) about baby until after we have heard its heartbeat. I assume that everything is OK, but don't have my next Dr. appointment until mid-October. I'll be 12 weeks at that time. That seems a long time to wait. However, I don't want our parents to get all excited and then for something to go wrong.

    We told family and close friends the weekend we found out. We told the rest of the world after we had our first appointment a week or so later. For me, if something did happen, I knew I would need my family/friends support to "get through" it.

    Ditto Jen. We told our parents around 8 wks, sibs and a few friends after that, then waited to tell the rest of our friends, co-workers & extended family until the 1st trimester was over. FIL had to be told explicitly not to tell anyone until we gave the okay at 12-13 wks or the whole neighborhood would've known immediately!

    We actually waited until 14 weeks. We had a loss the month before, so I was very cautious and anxious to tell.

    We told my family after our 6 week appointment where we saw the heartbeat, told in-laws at 10 weeks in person.  Then waited until after our 11 week appointment (had another sonogram) to tell close friends & other family.  After that we let the news trickle out.  Never did a public fb announcement.
