I had the extraction last night. Since then, I've eaten very little. I'm afraid to chew anything because I don't want to get food particles trapped where the tooth was pulled but I'm starving. Warm water is not helping. When is it okay to start eating and what is good to start eating? I read that yogurt, which is what I've been eating and also oatmeal but I'm afraid. I'm not in much pain at all and there is a little swelling (if that matters).
Re: Eating after wisdom tooth extraction?
You can eat whatever you feel comfortable eating - of course probably stick to softer things, doritos might not be the best choice
Just swish very gently with warm water or warm salt water afterward.
Don't forget no straws!!! I totally ignored that bit when I had all 4 of mine out and got myself a dry socket. Not fun!!!!!!
Hope you're all healed up soon!!

mashed potatoes, mac & cheese (kraft works well b/c it can slide down your throat w/o really chewing), pudding, smoothies, shakes, scrambled eggs etc....that's what I had for about the first 2-3 days. By day 3, I was good to eat pretty much anything - just had to chew w/ my front teeth more than my back.
Also - if you have any bleeding still...try drinking iced tea. The tanic acid in tea helps w/ the bleeding. If its really bad, you can actually put a wet tea bag on the extraction area.
I am late on this, but when I had mine out my husband took me to IHOP. I ate crepes and eggs. It tasted so good after a diet of soup. I think I waited three days or so. Good luck!
