Switching rooms before new baby arrives

Hello ladies, I've got a daughter that is three and a half, just found out yesterday that she's going to have a sister!  Question is, I would prefer to move my daughter into a new room and let her help re-do that room and leave her old room for the new baby since it's pretty much a nursery.  Any thoughts/ideas if you have been through this?  I just don't want my daughter to feel like she's being kicked out of her room, even though she says she wants to go into a new room right now.  Thanks for your advice!

Re: Switching rooms before new baby arrives

  • just make a big deal out of it, we girls love when we're being fussed over.

take her on breif shopping trips and let her help her pick out things for her "BIG GIRL ROOM"

  • We switched DS into his new room around 16-17 months old.  He was into a BIG BOY bed and he loves it.  He';s done great.  There was no way I was buying another crib for this one.
  • We just did this with my DD. We made a BIG deal about her getting a big girl room. We talked about it for months and brought her on shopping trips to help pick out all the goodies to make her room cute. She loves her new room and the transition was easy!
