An earlier baby shower?

I have kind of a problem. I live in WV where the winters can be brutal. My hometown is 2 hours away and that's where I want my shower to be held. My parents live there, my best friend, and all of DH's family lives there. (We don't live there because it's a pretty small town with no job opportunites.)

Anyway, since I'm due in March I would normally have the shower in January or February but what if we get a terrible snow storm and I'm not able to get there? I wasn't able to go "home" for 2 months last winter it was so bad. Not to mention the fact that I missed the birth of my best friend's baby because of it.

So should I have the shower earlier? Like in December? Is that too early? Is anyone esle in the same boat?

    My sister is throwing me a shower in November during Thanksgiving, because she is due at the beginning of Feb. and it will be the only time she can come down. It also will be a rare time that all my family can get together, so I say do whats best for you and your family.

    Mine is going to be January 16 but i live in LA and we are lucky if we get any cold weather or snow. December is still good so i don't think that is too early but you just need to do what you are comfortable with. Since you can't predict the weather, just in case it looks like weather might be bad, you could always have a meet the baby party afterward. I have heard of this a bunch too. It's up to you but no i definitely don't think December is too early but you are three weeks behind me almost. I'll be 30 weeks at christmas. You definitely don't want to be too far along and be miserable.

    I don't think its wrong to have an earlier shower, or even have one after (if its possible- depending on how late in march you're due)  I live in Canada, and my family and hometown (friends, etc) are all in upstate NY.  so.... I'm in the same situation- it could be terrible weather here or there... but i'm not necessarily able to make it in Novemember/December either, because of bad weather starting as early as October up in both areas.  My only option would be if i couldn't make it to be a later shower, which would be possible for me because DH and I are getting the essentials (crib, changer, etc) and we can have a shower in april since i'm not due till March 30th.  Good luck.  I know how difficult it may be, and trust me I KNOW SNOWSTORMS!!! lol

    We're having our shower in the beginning of November, and only because it's like a jack and jill baby shower, and DH is only home from being away at sea for October and November ... he leaves again December 3rd and won't be back until just before the baby is due!

    So we too will be doing the shower early!! Just think of all the energy you'll have ... besides ... if it's before Christmas, people won't be as financially strapped as around or just after christmas!!!

    Our shower is Dec. 4th.  I had the same concerns about the weather and between weddings and holidays in Nov/Dec it was the only weekend.

    I'm having my shower on October 9th because we're moving to Germany the first week of November.  Just do what works best for you.

    My sister is talking about having a baby shower at the end of September. Due to DH job he can't take any time off work form November until end of December. We live 6.5 hours from my family and there is no way I'm driving all that way in January. We are planning a trip in September and the next time that we will go back will be in May probably. I think that its way to early for a shower but if that's what my family wants then I just go with it.

    Im going to try to have mine in November because its easier to try to do one then then after all the holidays plus I graduate school in January so I want everyone to be able to come over for it,
