why I don't go to you anymore, jerk of an OB. I called the OB that handled my first loss (handled is really a nice term, they were total jerks about it). I need my medical records for my RE appointments. They informed me that there is a $25 charge for the first 10 pages, and xx for beyond that. Seriously!?! Oh yeah, and it takes 7-10 days for them to copy them, which is just fabulous since my first RE appointment just got reschedule today for next Tuesday.
On the flip side, I called my real OB's office and she copied all like 50 pages of my medical records and had them there for me to pick up like 10 minutes after I asked for them.
Can they really charge like that for your own records?
Re: Thanks for reminding me.....
It thinks it's a "processing fee" since they have to pay an employee to pull your records and make copies. It makes sense, but it still sucks.
If I can believe everything google tells me (and I probably can't), they can't charge as much as they're charging:
Indiana
- $1 per page for the first 10 pages
- $.50 for pages 11-50
- $.25 for pages 51 and higher
- Labor fee not to exceed $20
- Actual cost of mailing the records
- Additional $10 if the request is for copies to be provided within two working days
- $20 for certifying a patient's medical record
ETA: I'm guessing that they are legal because they're probably charging a labor fee plus a per page fee. It just really stinks.<a href="http://s699.photobucket.com/albums/vv353/guppyamy/?action=view
Oh, for fvck sakes, that seems like such nonsense. I could see maybe asking you to pay a fee for super fast service, but paying it *and* waiting 7-10 days?
They can eat a bag of d!cks.
