baby book?

#1: I have a copy of The Belly Book that is super cute, but I never got around to filling it in and now it's rather late to get started on.  If someone wants it, hit me up with a PM and an offer.  I should have returned it, but waited too long.

#2: I am determined to keep a decent baby book for this little girl.  However, I am not a super-journaler, a scrapbooker, or even all that creatively talented with writing anecdotes.  I'd love something with simple fill-in-the-blanks and spots for photos, footprints, milestones, etc.  Does anyone have one they'd recommend?  (bonus points if I can buy it with Amazon Prime or my B&N teacher discount)

Re: baby book?

  • Look for a baby first year calendar. They are blank calendars that come with stickers for all sorts of milestones and each month usually has a place to fill in things like how they sleep, eat, things they like, etc. A totally easy way to keep up. Make sure it has thirteen months though. You'll want the month your baby is born, through that month again to get to the first birthday. Some only have 12 months so you get stuck after the baby is 11 month old. My friend also told me about this cute journal called something like "a line a day". The idea is that every day you just write one quick thought or memory or something. Like your FB status. Easy enough to do. I know she got that on amazon.

  • I just randomly bought a cute one with a giraffe on it from BRU since I like giraffes. It's totally simple but has lots of good fill in spots without having TOO much stuff.

  • Oh and fwiw, I kept a calendar for Ben and a folder of random stuff I thought of want in a book someday. And I scrapbooked a real baby book for him using pages from mybabyscrapbook.com. I got his done about three weeks before Cooper was born. ;) they are three years apart.

  • I am not much of a scrapbooker either...so I just kept all our photos in Shutterfly and built a 2009 baby book from those. They have super cute backdrops and templates for babies. It was so easy and this way the pictures won't fade or fall out. And we can (and did) buy extra copies for the grandparents.

I plan on doing one for every year - but for 2010 onward it will just be a family album.

Here's our 2009 book if you want an idea of how they look.

  • I just do a blog and import the entries to print out the pages using blurb. It is super easy and I can do entries from my phone with a sleep baby in my arms, or the car or anywhere. Blurb books are very professional looking when they print and the software is free/easy to use.

I also use facebook as my blog reminder and go back through and see funny things that one of the boys said or did to incorporate for this month. Right now I have a list of things i need to blog about from facebook, so at least I know it isn't forgotten.

I started out doing "letters" to the boys for milestones. I wrote a 'letter' every 3 months for their updates. Now I do milestones when they happen. We have three books, "Book 1 - expecting", "Book 2 - baby love" and "Book 3 - adventures with toddlers". I am way behind, but there is a link in my siggy with what I do via our posturous blog (the easiest IMO to blog via anywhere with).

  • I love my Tessera baby book, but it might still be a bit more than you're looking for.

  • I bought mine from a Hallmark store.  It's straightforward with fill in the blanks for everything and room for photos.  I would like to think I will have time to put together amazing, detailed scrapbooks, but I thought it would be safer to pick something simple and complete like this and then I can do more if time allows.  Hallmark had several really cute ones to pick from.

  • I have this one

It's very simple with fill ins.  I got it from half price books.  I have a hard time keeping up with it and used to be big time into scrapbooking, etc.

  • I just buy a C.R Gibson baby book off amazon for all my kids. It is the basic old school fill in the blanks.
