So James is starting get more mobile (rocking on all fours and pulling/pushing up on us/furniture!) and we need to get some baby gates soon. Which ones do you guys have? Love them? Hate them? Thanks!
We haven't had to get any for our house yet since we keep the bedroom doors shut except for her room, and we also shut the hall bath up, but we got one for the area at my parents house that leads to the stairs since we don't want her trying to crawl up the stairs.
I can't remember the brand we got but it has a little door thing that we (the adults) can open and go through. I have always had trouble in the past when I have been at others houses that use the ones that don't have any type of opening and you have to step over them, because I am all graceful and trip and fall lol.
We will need several. We need a HUGE one because our great room steps down into our den with very long brick steps (Lindsay knows all about them b/c Jax spent the entire night of July 4th climbing up and down them!). I dread how much one will cost. So I want to make sure its a good one before I shell out that much $$.
Yes, you definitely need something for those steps! Lol, although J had a blast climbing up and down the.whole.time. Do they make gates that big? If not, you might could use part of one of those play yards. We do not have any baby gates so idk about any specifics.
We have this one between our den and kitchen - the opening is about 4' and the gate could stretch 2-3' father if needed. It's wall mounted, but it will fold up and swing out of the way when it's not in use.
We also have three of these Four Paws 41" walk thru gates in various doors of the house. Yes, they're dog gates and we've had them for years, but we'll never buy any other brand/type.

We have this one by Summer: https://www.summerinfant.com/categories_products_view/55/Stylish-Secure--Extra-Tall-Decorative-Walk-Thru-Gate.html
and I love it. It's looks nice and is very sturdy.
We also have the white plastic kind with all the holes in it that you see everywhere. I just think it's a pain and isn't very sturdy.
This is it, the one we have at my parents. I agree that it is very sturdy.
I found this one online. Maybe it would be big enough for the larger opening.
