Anyone else dealing with a clingy LO?

My LO has gotten extra clingy here lately.  She use to be fine in the mornings, now she cries and throws a fit if I try to put her down.  However if I get on the floor and play she is fine.  When I pick her up at daycare, if I don't get her almost immediately she'll have a melt down.  When I try putting her in her car seat she throws a huge fit.  When we are at home she wants to be held as she plays.  If I finally get her settled on the floor, if she sees me get off the couch 75% o the time she throws a fit and then just wants to be held.  I can't get her on the floor again.  WTH!  She doesn't do it as much to DH.  The daycare says she never cries.  I'm at a loss.

  • perhaps its separation anxiety? idk,my daughter has always been a mama's girl and will play by herself but would def prefer im right next to her 24/7.

  • It's not just you. DD has always been really good and playing by herself, but not so much lately. Do your DD's fits go on for quite a while. I have noticed that with my DD that sometimes she will cry for a minute when I first lay her down but if I sit right there and talk to her she will get distracted by a toy and be fine. Same with leaving the room for a couple min. She will cry when she sees me leave, but then gets distracted.
  • I was just telling my DH the SAME thing....I used to set her down in the mornings and she would play by herself while I made coffee, fed the dogs...etc...but now it's a cry fest!!!  I don't think it helps that my DH is military and has been gone for a while....so I am the only consistant adult interaction she gets.  I hope it's a phase, and I hope it ends quick!!!

How old is you LO??  Maybe it's a 7.5 month phase?

  • My LO is doing the same thing! I have to sit on the floor and play with her or else she flips out! It is making me crazy! I love being with her, but I can't sit and play ALLLL day long!
  • She use to just cry for a minute and then straighten up but now she won't stop crying until I get her.  I've let her cry for up to 10 minutes thinking she would stop (I was out of her sight) and it just broke her heart.  I don't know what it is.

My LO is 8.5 months so she's a month ahead of you guys.  I don't know if she's picking up that in the mornings I'm leaving or what.  But she just wants to be right with me most of the time.  She's starting to get that way with DH too.  But it's still mainly with me.
