    Shia - Shia LeBeouf

    My guess is that "everyone" sees Shia as being inspired by the actor and to many, probably sounds feminine. It's also a misspelled version of the Hebrew name, Shai.

    The reason I don't like it? Because I bet you wouldn't even have considered it if you didn't know who Shia LeBeouf was. I have to pretty much assume anyone in this country choosing this name today is doing so because of the pop-culture reference and I hate that.

    But I don't recall any recent posts regarding Shia, so saying "everyone" hates it, directed at us, is pretty unfair.

    I'm not sure why Nameberry is trying to say that shia=*** in French; it doesn't. I sent them an email regarding that error, however. I can't believe they didn't verify that before posting.

    I don't speak french, so I have no idea, but that's what they seem to be implying. Maybe it's another slang term for it? IDK.
