What are you eating these days?

I'm sorry if this has been asked a million times.

I'm about to go grocery shopping but literally nothing sounds good to me. All I've been eating the past few weeks is fruit, eggo waffles and cereal. I'm really trying to be healthy and get all my nutrients in but it's just not happening. I can't stomach about 99% of food right now.

So what have you been eating?

  • Everything in sight! It hasn't been that way for long though. I got my appetite back about a week ago. Until then though, I couldn't eat anything that wasn't painfully bland. Even ketchup (my favorite food ever) had such a strong taste I couldn't enjoy it.

I thrived on fruit, cereal, yogurt, and pizza. It's awful, I felt so bad for eating all that grease, but the cheese is really what I was after. I liked making sandwiches that were just cheddar cheese and white bread.

Try bagels and cream cheese, grilled cheese and tomato soup, nature valley granola for snacks! Peanut butter (if it doesn't gag you).. basically- going back to basics is what got me through to 10 weeks. I couldn't eat anything! I would say egg sandwiches too, but with all the recalls going on I would be careful!

Also, when cereal is all you can stomach, but you don't want the milk, try mixing some into strawberry yogurt. I did it the other day with honey bunches of oats. YUM!

  • Lots of fruit, milk, and baked beans.  Not much sounds good to me.  Also, I have major cravings for nacho cheese sauce, so I've been eating that a lot too.

I've been trying to think outside the typical box of what nutrients are in what foods to eat healthily, but if I can't stand something then I don't eat it.  My midwife said "eat what you can stand and eat healthy when you can stand it".

  • Thank you!

  • Hmm....green grapes, soft breads with cheese, BLT's, pretzel chips, pizza, I'm digging the thought of a V8 or tomato soup right now, any salty/spicy comfort food.  Sucks because I want to be eating lots of veggies but even the thought turns my stomach.

  • It varies but Chick-fil-a, watermelon, spaghetti, Nutrigrain bars, soup, spaghetti-os, ramen noodles, soft pretzels. Yeah, my sense of nutrition and healthy eating went out the window last week.  Now I'm just trying to make it to 2nd tri w/o breaking a blood vessel from heaving.

  • As odd as it sounds, cold baked potatoes are one of the only things that don't make me sick.  At least this week.  I've been eating lots of grapes and nectarines, too.

  • I'm eating anything and everything that my stomach can handle. I had 2 toasted eggo waffles with butter and syrup and a scoop of Vanilla Iced Cream haha!
  • I just discovered Babybel cheese. I take thick gourmet bread baguettes (the soft, not the tough kind) and I hollow out the middle and shove a Babybel cheese inside. It's quick. It's good. And it provides protein and carbs.

I've also been eating bananas and any kind of fruit. I just discovered frozen grapes. I tend to drink a lot of juice, too.

Other than that, I go to the grocery store every other day just to pick up the only thing that sounds good to me at the time.

  • I also second the baked potato thing. But I haven't been able to actually eat one yet. I bought three b/c I was craving them the other day.

    And soup.

  • I've been good the past week eating yogurt And healthy lunches and dinners But today the s@it hit the fan. I had a yogurt for breakfast had McDonald double cheeseburger and fries for lunch cookies for snack lobster for dinner watermelon and peanut butter candies for dessert and the night is not over. I feel gross.
  • A couple of days around week 8 I looked at everything in my house and nothing seemed appealing. I went to the grocery store just to browse to see if anything struck my fancy and wound up with pizza pops, white cheddar mac & cheese, cheese and ichiban noodles.

  • Tons of random bland foods! Toast, dry cereal, granola bars, ritz crackers, PB&J, french fries, rice, plain yogurt. I think I will be having top ramen for dinner too. I have not been nauseated yet thankfully, just weird food aversions!

  • For dinner tonight DH and I had grilled steak, baked potatoes, and corn on the cob. I had 2 bites of steak and gave the rest to DH. Meat just doesn't appeal to me that much right now. But the baked potato and corn were AMAZING.

I've also been eating a lot of soup, ramen noodles, bagels and cream cheese, string cheese, fruit, yogurt, dry cereal, pretzels, chocolate chip pancakes... random things.

  • I'm not really having nausea anymore but when I was the things that sat well were oatmeal, yogurt, toast, crackers, cheese, and for some reason cucumbers. I also craved V8 juice like crazy. If you don't hate it you might try it... personally I had a hard time getting any veggies in without it.
