  • Tylenol is fine to take.  Advil is not.  Hope you feel better!  I pulled a muscle in my butt last week and went to the chiropractor yesterday for it -- soooo much better.  I feel your pain, it hurt to even walk!

  • Tylenol regular strength is fine.

Ibuprofen is one of those drugs that tends to have differing opinions.  Some will say it's fine during the first two trimesters, but it's a category D drug in the third trimester.  Others will say to stay away from it for the entire pregnancy.

I have been taking ibuprofen when I get a headache instead of excedrin. I havent had any problems with it. I think one thing that people worry about is it might thin your blood a little, which is already a problem when pregnant.

  • I was told Tylenol is the only safe one. I read a few months back that ibuprofen can cause a miscarriage. But I can't give you the site, because I can't remember it.
  • Ibuprofen is a vasoconstrictor and restricts blood flow which is not good for pregnant women. Tylenol is fine.

  • I was told that ibuprofen can affect the amount of amniotic fluid surrounding the baby, but Tylenol is okay to take.

Tylenol (acetominophen) is safe. Just don't overdo it. Ibuprofen (Advil, Motrin) is not safe. Nor is aspirin.

  • I only take acetominophen and it is only every once in a while when I cannot remedy the pain with other methods.
