2nd Trimester

Is there a such thing as eating too much tomatoes?

So we have an abundance of cherry tomatoes from our garden and I must admit I love them!!! If I have tomatoes incorporated into my lunch and dinner there isn't such a thing as tomato overload is there? I just wanted to make sure I wasn't doing any harm by having them in each meal. I don't want them to go to waste and I love em!

  • In my non medically trained but still professional opinion I say no. I get blisters from the acid if I eat too many but you don't seem to have that issue.

  • No way!  You could always make a fresh sauce and freeze it, though, if you want to have some once they're no longer in season.

  • I am with you I love tomatoes, they are prob my #1 fav food. I eat them like crazy. I am pretty sure they are great for you, tomato sauce is even better because once you cook the tomatoes it does something to it that makes it even healthier.

  • That's really funny because my husband commented that every meal we have been having for the past 5 months has tomatoes in it.  I'm definitely not sick of them, I LOVE them in every way...apparently I better back off though, for my husband's sake!

  • all throught my 2nd tri my local grocery store carried these really really good tomatoes. I ate like 2 tomato sandwiches a day!  If it weren't for heartburn I would still be gobbling tomatoes like theres no tomorrow.
  • Geez I hope not!  I have been eating them non-stop.  The only thing is I am finding that they give me some acid reflux.

  • LOL i was addicted to tomatoes...I ate them at least once a day (like apples) for 9 months straight and started wondering what my deal was....I started googling and found that tomotoes are related to the tobacco plant and actually are mildly addicting!!!!! who would have thought?!?!?! (then i thought of that old tomacco simsons episode and thought...i guess i should have known.)

but they are supposed to be full of lycopene and antioxidants so i say go for it! nom nom nom :)
