Dentist today, what should I expect?

My daughter and I are going to the Dentist today.  This will be her first time.  Our Dr said 3 years to take them, but since I'm already going, my dentist said that they would see her too.  What should I expect they are going to do on her?  Will they clean her teeth?

  • It probably depends on the dentist, but here is how ours have gone. She's had 3 visits so far. She sits in the big chair and gets a exam. They count her teeth and see that they are streight. Then they clean with the same spinny brush they use on adults. She gets to pick the flavor toothpaste. Then they floss. Then the dentist comes and gives everything a once over. She gets a sticker and we are on our way. They knew at 18 months with 4 teeth that DD was going to need braces - yikes!! GL! DD loves her dentist.

  • We're going today also for the first time.  When I made the appointment they told me that she'll watch my teeth being cleaned and the they'll put her in the chair.  They work on getting her to open her mouth and then they'll count her teeth.  They don't do a cleaning and they won't use any instruments on her.

  • We went when my son turned 2. He completely freaked out...full out screaming. And we had talked and talked about it many times before we went. I would ask him what he was going to do at the dentist and he would open his mouth and count his teeth, but when we were there, it was a completely different story.
