question about boogies.. need some advice!

Okay I know this is kind of silly but my LO is congested and I'm not quite sure what to do!

I can see she has dried boogies around her nose and I hear the congestion when she breathes.  I'm thinking I need to help clear her out with some saline and that blue thing they gave me at the hospital.

Anyone done this before and can give any advice?

TIA!!

  • I would just use the big booger sucker from the hospital. My DD hates when we use it, but it does a good job of cleaning out her nose.

  • I would use the saline to losen everything up, wait a couple of minutes and then use the booger sucker. DS has had booger issues since we started DC & this works wonders.

  • Saline and the booger sucker will be your best bet.  DS had a cold when he was 2 weeks old and that combination was the only thing that helped him breathe.

  • Yeah...you need to use the aspirator ("that blue thing") to help her breathe. She can't clear her nose herself. Sometimes sucking the boogers out can take a while and be a pain, so if theyre visible I just use a Q-Tip to get them out.

This.  Just be careful not to shove a Q-tip up in there too far (i.e. like my mom did when she tried to clean out DS nose without me!)

This is exactly what we do too.  He HATES it, but it works.

I also have Boogie Wipes that I use to try to get the dry ones and wipe the saline off of his face, clean off the bulb, etc.  And we have DS sleeping with a humidifier which has worked wonders!  GL!

  • For some reason, my daughter seems to have a lot of boogies every morning, so we are very familiar with the 'blue thing'. She doesn't like it, but it's a lot better than her snorting when she cries and being all congested! Just make sure that it is clean and go to town ;)
