If your 3yo threw up this morning,

would you let them go to the zoo at 10? Assuming he doesn't throw up again.  He says he feels fine now, he is eating toast and drinking water.  Yesterday he said he was going to throw up and he never did but he did a very little this morning.  He wants to go still, of course.

  • Is it with preschool/ daycare?  Or you?

  • No, I wouldn't.

I hope he's feeling better and that the vomitting was a one time thing!

  • Not if he's going to be anywhere near anyone else's kids. I would be PISSED if someone knowingly exposed my kids to something at an event.

  • He would go with my sister.  He doesn't seem sick at all and it was a very small amt. of throw up.  More like acid reflux type of throw up.  They would more or less just be going to walk around and get fresh air.  She wouldn't take him into the kiddie interactive rooms just so he isn't handling the stuff other kids are.

  • Not if there's a chance he's sick. Does he normally throw up from reflux? I had really bad reflux lately after being on an antibiotic, and it was making me throw up quite often--different from actual vomiting, which I do quite often, too. There was absolutely no warning, and it was not a large amount. I'd say if he could tell you beforehand he felt like throwing up, there's a big chance it's a virus or something. I know my kids have gone 12 hours after throwing up the first time before throwing up again.
  • No, I would just take him when he is feeling better.

Sorry, I still wouldn't let him.  Even if he's not in the interactive rooms, there are still plenty of things he'll be touching.  I would just reschedule and take him for a walk around the neighborhood.

  • I'm going to keep him home.  I was just curious what others would do since I am super cautious when my kids are sick I wasn't sure what others would do.  I think it was flukey but I want to keep my eye on him.
  • For some reason my kids always tend to seem fine in the morning and then fevers spike in the afternoon.  I would hold off if you could.
  • Nope.
