What is one thing that you were surprised about being PG or having a baby?

Re: PG-Mom-TTC check in

  • How the heck did I get to the middle of this list? A little scared.

    Any news or updates?

Holy Moly do I have a kicker. This kid kicks all.the.time. Last night the bean even kicked my hand. It was really cool. :)

What is one thing that you were surprised about being PG or having a baby?

I am still amazed at how everyone is so different with pregnancy. No one has the same experience but it's kind of neat to hear all that happens.

Caroline can roll over from her back to her belly.  I thought she was bit young for this, so maybe it was just a fluke, but she did it twice in a row last night.  Brian of course says that she's advanced because of his genes.  I'm trying not to get too excited, but she slept last night from 10:30 PM until 7:00 AM this morning.  This is the first time that she hasn't gotten up for a feeding during the night.  If I have her truly STTN by a month old, I'll be thrilled!  I wasn't even bothered with getting up with her once a night, but this would be amazing!

What is one thing that you were surprised about being PG or having a baby?

I can't believe how much baby laundry I do and how many times I run the dishwasher now.  (My lazy behind doesn't wash her bottles by hand.)  Everyone tells you about the laundry, but you still can't believe it until it actually happens.  I'm scared to see our electric bill this month!

  • Any news or updates?

Gianna learned how to blow bubbles with her mouth the other day. It is the cutest thing ever!! By the time she is done, she has spit all over her face....We were able to video tape it yesterday....

Saturday she is going and getting her ears pierced at the Dr. office!! I am so excited but nervous at the same time! I know she is going to cry, but I hate that I am the one making her cry, but better now when she does not remember.....

Natalie- I hope Caroline continues to roll over....G used to do it all the time at that age but once she got some more meat on her bones she stopped....I think she was too chunky to do it any longer, and she has yet to do it since!!

  • I didn't realize that the last 3 babies born are all share birthdays w/ some of my family. Phoebe was born on DH's b-day, Kalie was born on my cousin's b-day and Nia was born on my FIL's b-day. But they all skipped over my b-day (the 11th) lol

  • My temp shot up today which got me all excited, so I took a test, but BFN. AF isn't here yet, so there's still a little bit of hope, but I just am thinking this still isn't it...rawr.

Not PG, but I'm just always surprised/floored/astounded what other people feel is OK to say to a PG woman. The things that come out of people's mouths make me have to pick my jaw up off the floor more times than I can count.

  • I'm DPO 13, so far this Cycle looks pretty normal compared to my last one, which I'm excited about. I O'ed on CD 23 which is late, but I O'ed, so that is good. I tested yesterday CD12 and got a BFN, then I started spotting, so I thought for sure AF was coming, but she didn't. I was spotting this morning a little bit and nothing again. So I'm hoping I either get a BFP or AF soon and not another 74 day long cycle. We'll see.

  • Any news or updates? Nia is getting chunkier and is a non-stop breastfeeder. The way she snorts and snarls for the breast is very frightening! At her well baby appointment last week the dr. said I need to not feed her for so long (she can go about 3 hours straight just switching from breast to breast with breaks only to poop). She did say she's getting enough food because she gained nearly 1/2 lb since leaving the hospital and her diaper output is strong. The issue for me is that my milk supply is ridiculous and I'm burning through even reusable pads so quickly; it just sucks that I have to handwash and airdry them. I can't wait to start pumping next month and get her on a bottle so DH can help with feedings.

What is one thing that you were surprised about being PG or having a baby? How despite how anti-epidural I was how amazing it felt when I got it after the 20+hour induction ran me ragged (yes, I'll post my birth story soon but I've just been focused on my major presentation this Thursday - I had my run through today at the presentation space and it was fantastic!)

  • Any news or updates? Phoebe is doing great!  She is growing so fast I can't even believe it.  I am having a horrible time getting her to sleep if I'm not holding her 24/7.  She doesn't even want Chris to hold her, just me.  I try and try to lay her down and after awhile I just give in and hold her the rest of the day.  So basically I'm not getting anything done around the house.  Luckily Chris is home until he deploys and Rowen is a great help so they have been taking care of me and the house.

Rowen is starting school next Monday!  Its just Pre-K but I can't believe he is that big already!

What is one thing that you were surprised about being PG or having a baby? How my two pregnancy's and delivery's were completely different.  NOTHING was the same.  I'll have to post my birth story sometime soon.  I've been lurking on here all the time but usually when holding Phoebe so it isn't very easy to actually type!

But as I was saying everything was so different, but they are so much the same as babies.  Looking at pictures they even look the same.  Except that Rowen was so tiny and Phoebe isn't at all!

  • I finally got my period last week and it lasted 6 days.  It was awful and one of the longest periods I've had in awhile.  Right now I'm on CD 9 and waiting to O.  I'm not sure how successful we are going to be this cycle since I'm traveling so much for work.  It doesn't leave many days when we can do the BD.

  • Any news or updates?

Caroline news: She is just getting so big and more mature.  She is understanding so much of what we say.  Around nap time or bed time we can ask her if she's ready to go to bed and she'll go to the stairs and wait for us.  She's starting to say more words - I was getting a little worried, but she's naming objects and finally started saying "bye" last week.  We start her music class on Thursday and I'm excited about that.  I think she's going to love it!

PG news: Had an appointment yesterday.  Everything still looks great.  HB is in the 140s.  The big U/S got moved up to 9/13 so it's coming soon!

What is one thing that you were surprised about being PG or having a baby?

How hard BFing was!!! I always thought it would be so natural and just happen, but it definitely was not that way.  I really hope the second time around it works better for me and baby.

  • Any news or updates?

Aislyn is now a month old today.  She is about 22 inches and only 7 pounds 1 oz.  She has gained almost 2 pouinds in two and a half weeks.  She is so tall and skinny though nothing fits right.  She is awake more during the day and is starting to "talk".  Right now DH is gone for two hours so this is the first time just the two of us.

What is one thing that you were surprised about being PG or having a baby?

Just because I started leaking at 20 weeks does not mean I have enough milk for her.

You never know.  DH was gone a lot during the month of May and somehow it worked for us!  Just BD when you can!

    Good luck!

  • The Kikimonster is rolling over, although I am convinced this is because she hates tummy time - I will take it!  She is starting to get more stable sitting up.  She is loud.  She found her voice a while ago but she is just now learning how loud it can get.  Which is hilarious but I think our nights of going out to dinner at a resonable hour - not with the grandparents - are quickly coming to an end.  I think she is even starting to disrupt the mommy and me group that we go to.  So I am anxious to move to the 6+ month class. There will be mobile and probably loud children.

I am surprised that CDing is so easy.  I don't have that much extra laundry and overall I have a very easy baby.  Just another reason to not have another kid...quit while I am ahead on the easy baby thing, ya know.

  • Any news or updates? Anatomy scan this coming Monday! DH is flying in Thursday and staying for the scan so it will be good to see him. I miss him a ton and cell phones/landline on island have not been working well (shocker!) so we've not been able to talk as much as we are used to.

What is one thing that you were surprised about being PG or having a baby?

Well, right now I'm working on the registry, so I'm suprised by the sheer number of choices for baby gear. I can see how it's easy to go overboard.

Also, I'm shocked by how many times my bra size has changed and wonder if/when they will stop changing.

  • I forgot to  say GL to our TTCers! Come on BFPs!!!!
  • Good luck to the TTC'ers!  Lots of baby dust heading your way!

Week 32 begins tomorrow.  Not much is new.  I have been surprised by a few things...first, how quickly time flies!!!  second, that the girls have started leaking already - I never knew this would happen prior to birth!  third, that just when you feel like your belly is big as it can actually get, a new day begins and you are even bigger than before - somehow this baby is finding room to grow even though I thought we were out of space - and I still have 8 weeks to go - hard to believe!, and finally, even though the aches and pains are getting worse each day, I am loving every second of being pregnant...I really think I am going to miss carrying this little guy around in my belly.

  • Briley is officially a sitter, but still does not roll over. If she even tries to roll, it's only for a second and then she gives up. We went to the mall yesterday which was so much fun because people always comment how pretty she is and I love it.

The thing that surprised me about being a mom is how hard it is. Not that I thought it would be easy, but damn. The minute I think I have her figured out, she switches it up. It has gotten easier since about the 3 month mark, but she has been fussy the past few days. Just this morning I was thinking how frustrating it is to know something is bothering her and not be able to figure out what it is.

  • I love having a team by my name; it makes me feel accomplished to have a baby name and everything! I'm feeling great, and Kari is moving like crazy these days. She is really only still when I go to work each morning, but I'm not getting as much sleep nowadays. I'm enjoying being pregnant; this afternoon I started working on the crib skirt with my grandma, and I think I've almost convinced myself to squeeze in a baby quilt for the baby to match the chair and crib skirt with the dots. I love to make things like that, I just don't normally have time with school/work/home/church.

One thing that surprised me about being pregnant: all of the veins. I feel like one big blue vein. They are really visible, and cover my whole body. I remember reading early on in the books about pregnancy that they would be more noticeable, but I didn't think it meant like this. I guess it's just one of those ways my body is telling me it is working overtime even though I don't always recognize it.

  • Update:  I think I felt the baby moving today!!!  I'm not 100% sure, but...

Surprising things:  I never thought I'd be so overwhelmed when looking for baby "stuff".  I went through a total of 4 pregnancies, 5 babies with my cousin and sister and I thought I knew what I was doing.  Now that it's my turn to choose everything, I am COMPLETELY LOST.

I'm also surprised at how many little aches and pains I'm having with this pregnancy.  My ribs, my ankles...it's not just my belly that's being affected.

  • Any news or updates?

I'm on bed rest but stable.  I cheated a lot today on the bed rest and I'm feeling it tonight.  Still learning.  Will do better tomorrow because I know it can mean that baby comes before he might be ready (or before 37 weeks).  Blood pressure is stable, NST & ultrasound went well today, and I get my liver blood values rechecked on Thursday.  Repeat dr appt, NST, Ultrasound, and blood work until baby is born.

What is one thing that you were surprised about being PG or having a baby?

How a "normal" pregnancy seemed to turn on a dime.  I know my stress level (in part dealing with my mother & her drama) didn't help me but I'm not convinced that was all of it.  Just glad that we found a good answer to help deal with the blood pressure & preeclampsia.  Not to mention I feel extremely grateful that if I was to develop this condition that it happened at 35 weeks and not earlier.  Guess I needed a reminder to be happy with what you've got. Wink

ETA:  Best wishes for a healthy & happy pregnancy for all that are pregnant, vibes for those that are trying, and hugs for all the moms & their little ones.

  • I know that this is 2 days late, so people might not see this, but I think I am ready to be added to the TTC list :-) I know I was going to wait until after my first real AF, but some further research has me not worried about trying right off the pill...and let's just say that we're not being so good about protection so it is a possibility ;)
