I want to take some classes online. The course description has a syllabus with the days the lessons take place. But no times. Does that mean the lessons are posted on those days and I can take them at my convenience? How does this work?

    It depends on the course.  Some have you virtually meet (through adobe connect or VIOP).  Others give you due dates for assignments and such- which is usually in a week.  What does the syllabus say?

    I only took one online course, but that's how it was with mine. He posted an assignment or lesson one day and we always had to discuss it, but we could do this at any time that day. My course was a death and dying class.... it was to fulfull my general education classes for my undergrad.

    The syllabus just listed the classes and discussion points, for each Mon./Wed. I read the FAQs (which I should have done first) and it appears that the classes are "take at your convenience". I registered and it appears that after 12 PM ET on said M/W, the class will be available. I can take it whenever I want via an online classsroom and there is a chat area manned by either the professor or her assistant, and of course, my "classmates" will be in there as well, if they are taking it at the same time.

    I should have mentioned this is a non-credit class too, more for profesional enrichment, so it is probably less formal and more accessible since the target is people with jobs (unlike me).

    Thanks Suntoto. Now off to get the appropiate downloads with my stupid Windows 7.
