LO had a bottle at the hospital b/c he was jaundice and he was being lazy to eat the 2nd day. Besides that he has never had a bottle. I really only want to BF and not pump, but did any of you that EBF introduce the bottle
For one reason or another? TIA
Re: XP: EBF mothers, when did you first introduce bottle?
We introduced a bottle at 5 weeks. I had to return to work once she was 12 weeks old (I went back for 7 weeks and resigned), so she needed to know how to take a bottle. We used a bottle about once/week to be sure she would take it.
Now I mostly stay at home but I want her to be willing to take the bottle so DH and I can go out and so I can do things on my own (like get my hair done, etc).
Our Ethan's were born on the same day!
My Ethan needed formula early on because he lost too much weight but I was scared to give him a bottle so I gave it to him in a syringe. I am going back to work in 4 weeks but haven't given him a bottle yet because I haven't started pumping. I am hoping to give him a bottle around 6 weeks so he has a couple weeks to get used to it.
We started a bottle at 4-5 weeks. It is nice to be out at a restaurant and be able to give LO a bottle, especially if I am wearing the only dress that fits me, which zips up the back.
Also this weekend we are going car shopping, and the ILs will watch LO and they will have to feed her. We tried to take us with her a few weeks ago, but it was tough.
I BF from the breast almost exclusively and NIP without a problem, but it is nice to be able to give her a bottle in certain circumstances. It is also nice to be able to get away without worrying that she will be hungry with nothing to eat before I get back .
