Sorry this has taken me so long!! I wanted to write this sooner. However, I have had a rough time of recovering. So here it is!
I went in for my 41 week appointment on 8/11. Got checked, had a NST, and was informed that they scheduled my induction for that night. After my appointment I had gone home, finished packing, and went out to dinner with my family.
At 9pm I arrived at the hospital, got checked in, and the cervidil was placed. I was 1cm going in and only about 60% effaced. My mom and I got settled into our room a bit and was given an ambien to sleep. Which only gave me a few hours of rest, because the monitors for the baby would have problems picking her up when I moved. So every 30min to 1hour I was getting my monitors adjusted. On top of that contractions started at about 3:30am and were about 5 minutes apart.
In the morning I got to eat my final meal and watch a little TV before they could take out the cervidil. At about 10am the nurse came to roll me over to take the cervidil out and I suddenly felt a gush. I just sat there saying that I "totally didn't just pee myself". My water broke and I was 2cm dilated. From there they let me take a shower and get spruced up a bit. By the time I was done showering my contractions were 2-3 minutes apart and picking up in intensity.
The contractions stayed the same length for a good 2-3 hours and were picking up in pain. I was trying for a natural, med free birth. However, I knew they were going to start the pitocin soon and my contractions were already almost on top of each other. I was tired and running out of steam. My doc came in about 1pm and checked me. I was 2.5cm and still not effacing. They had to start the pitocin. I was also given the go ahead for an epidural. Which I took. I just ran out of steam and needed some sleep.
I had the epidural placed and it was amazing!! I hated not being able to move though. I then was in and out of sleep for hours. My doc came in to check me every few hours and upped my pitocin from there. By 10pm I was only 3.5-4cm dilated and still not effaced and almost maxed out my pitocin. She then suggested that since I was not progressing that we may have to do a c-section.
I was scared, but I agreed to the c-section. My only request was to wait until after midnight. So at around 1am they came in and gave me my spinal and moved me into the operation room. This whole moment is a blur. I was in and out of sleep, nauseated, and shaking violently from the spinal. I threw up 4 times during the whole operation and couldn't wait till it was over. I was so out of it I barely registered that my daughter was out! Worst experience EVER!!! However, I was not screaming and or crying... which made me proud of myself.
Rosalie Selene was born 8/13 at 1:39am and was 8lbs exactly and 21.5 inches long. She looks so much like her momma! Recovery sucked some serious behind. I'm still not 100% but getting better every day. I spent 3 days in the hospital and then came home and couldn't eat for 4 days. I am on anti nausea medicine and was almost placed on anti depressants. However, I am finally eating again! I also have figured out how to not just lay down all day. However, she is a complete doll and worth everything! Even the extra 50lbs I have and the gross looking tummy. So here is some pics for ya! Hope everyone has a better experience than mine! It's all worth it though!
P.S. I know I look like poop! I was just not all there at that moment.
