Contractions - When to call?

I'm 32 weeks tomorrow and I had a doctor appointment yesterday where my doctor told me at a certain point to call if I have so many contractions, not painful ones, just the ones that make your belly really hard, but can't remember how many exactly in what time period to call, so before I make that call I wanted to check to see if anyone else was told by their doctor a certain time/count... Thanks :)

Re: Contractions - When to call?

  • My OB told me 6 in one hour. HTH.

  • more than six in an hour after drinking water and laying on your side

  • My doctor said when they are 15 minutes apart for 2 hours- mostly because I've been in the hospital for PTL and I live about 45 min to an hour from the hospital. I am also supposed to lay on my left side in bed and continue drinking water to see if that stops them.

In my lamaze class they suggested the laying down, drinking water and also taking a warm shower to see if the contractions slow down before you call the Dr. The instructor said most doctors want a call when they are around 8-10 minutes apart for an hour.
