3rd Trimester

Perhaps I am just

being a worrywart, but are crib bumpers an issue for suffocation for my 20 month old daughter? I thought not because she is now old enough to turn her head-this is just for newborns right? I figured when they are old enough to turn their heads then its not an issue. Can comeone help me on this?

PS) I check on DD before I go to bed every night and tonight her face was against the bumper pad. I am SUCH a mom... :)

Re: Perhaps I am just

  • I am no expert but I am told it's a matter of opinion and preference. I suppose if you are super worried, ask your pediatrician or just buy one of those breathable bumpers. I just received one for my shower (I registered for it.) I hope this helps.

  • thanks-I worry too much. She has been find up to now. I swear sometimes I try to FIND something to worry about :)
  • I would say no. I know a girl younger than that who sleeps with blankets & pillows & toys with no problem, and I think at around a year my LO will be going into his own twin bed, no crib. At 20 months I'm assuming she can crawl, walk... more than just turn her head! SIDS risk is usually up to 1 year I believe.
