3rd Trimester

Did your doctor ever ask you...

for all you "team green"

Did you doctor ask you "IF" it was a boy, would you like a circumcision? My DH thinks that the doctors always know the sex of the baby and he is now convinced our LO is gonna pop out male.

It's silly I know, but I'm wondering if everyone has been asked this question who is team green?

Re: Did your doctor ever ask you...

  • I'm not team green, but with both my pregnancies my doctor asked ME after my ultrasound what I was having - I don't think she actually would've known otherwise.

Also, in the question & answer they've done with me both times, the circumcision question is on the sheet but they skip it since both my babies have been girls. I think it's probably just a standard thing, I wouldn't read too far into it :)

  • We were asked this on our first visit (@13wks). The nurse thats in charge of the insurance stuff asked us later on. I think its just something that they put in your chart, you know just in case. I dont think them asking you this indicates the sex of your baby.
  • I'm having a girl, and I was asked that question today. They don't think much about the sex of the baby. They go through the same list of questions.
  • My docs always ask me what I'm having, like it's not in my chart somewhere. But even though we all know it's a boy they have yet to ask me about that.

  • I'm having a girl and the MW still asked. There's a place for it on the birth plan form we filled out together and we put "no," just in case a dozen ultrasounds are wrong.
  • My doctor did not know the sex of my baby after the ultrasound, he asked US.

  • Yes, I'm team green and I was asked.  I remember with DS, the dr said they don't write it in the chart because they don't want to make the mistake of giving it away.

  • I was asked for my first by the NP who took my vitals.  This way she could get me the paperwork.  They did not know if it was a girl/boy, they just asked me to sign just in case.
  • We have been team green both times I have been pg and the doc never asked.   I know that my doc doesn't know what the baby is because I asked at one of my appts.

  • My doctor told me its not on the chart if you are team green. So, they have no idea just like me. She said the only person who knows and doesn't tell is the ultrasound tech.
  • I've been asked with both pregnancies and we are team green.

At my growth u/s last week, I mentioned that we did not know the sex and didn't want to (just to be safe).  She actually told me they don't even put the sex on the records due to insurance reasons.  I'm not sure how this is dealt with in other practices, but it wasn't on my old records from my former practice and won't be with the midwife practice either.

  • im not team green.  but when i had my nurse visit at 8 weeks, when they were going through my history. they asked me then if it is a boy then would we want him circumcised.  since finding out it was a boy, my dr has not asked anything about it.

  • I had a CVS test and have known since 12 weeks that I am team blue.  Four ultrasounds later, with validation that baby is definitely a boy, I have yet to be asked about it.  I don't even know if it's done by the OB or the Pediatrician.  I wish somebody would bring it up because I have questions!

  • My doctor asks that at the first appointment - before the sex is known.

So then why don't you bring it up? They're not mind readers...

  • we were team green to start out with and our doctor asked us that before we had even had an ultra sound (actually right before the Ultrasound where were were accidentally shown his privates ; ) )... it just happens to turn out that we are having a boy.. but no i dont think it means anything at all. sorry to burst your DH's bubble : ) I know that they don't even write it down on the files in our doctor's office because they don't want the chance of spoiling it... the U/s tech just checks to make sure everything is normal and goes on with her tests

  • We are having a boy and being induced on Tuesday and have never been asked.  Now, our pedi is the one that does the cir so maybe my dr hasn't asked because he wouldn't be performing the surgery anyway?
