s/o soda pops

what do you call it? When we say soda around here, it could mean anything from Coke to Sprite.

My family lives in Colorado and I thought it was the weirdest thing that they said, "pop." They kept asking me if I wanted one, but I was like wth is that? lol

Mountain Dew or Coke..LOL I usually call it by whatever name of the brand I want. If I am speaking in generic its usually "Soft drink" and occasionally soda. I tend to use Soda when I'm speaking of other items that use the drinks as flavorings: soda pop, soda float, soda glazed chicken (unless its specific: rootbeer float, pepsi glazed ham).

I usually call it whatever it is. I don't like calling it Coke because I don't like Coke and if I say that's what I want, I usually end up getting something I don't like.

My favorite is Diet Dr. Pepper and I call it DDP.

I say soda mostly- I think it's the common thing here. Although I went to college pretty much right in the middle of Chicago and St.Louis and once witnessed people from those 2 towns get into a debate over whether it was 'sode' or 'pop'. lol. Sometimes I say pop but I think that just rubbed off on me at school.

Although I also tend to say Coke as a general term for any soda

I'm from Seattle where it's generally called pop, but since moving to CA, I have started calling it soda so that I don't get the side eye.

I'm one of the weirdos that calls it pop

(it's a Chicago thing I think) I went to MA one summer and asked a store clerk what aisle the pop was down? He looked at me like I had three heads. Lol.
