Memorial Herman-Katy

Hi ladies! We have decided to TTC again next year if all goes as planned and we should also be moving to Katy. I wanted to get opinions from those who have given birth at that Memorial Herman. C-section experiences are extra helpful. TIA!

Re: Memorial Herman-Katy

  • I had an emergency c-section at Katy Memorial.  The experience was wonderful and I would highly recommend that hospital.  The nurses were amazing!!!  They were there for me every minute of every day and did everything to make me feel comfortable.  Before the surgery, one nurse sat with me and tried to comfort me until DH arrived.  The rooms were clean.  The staff is very responsive.  The food is good.  The nursery staff was also amazing!  They really took great care of Katelyn when she was away.  They came to the room several times to check on her and make sure we had everything we needed.  Before leaving (literally minutes before) I changed my mind and decided that I wanted to breast feed.  I knew absolutely nothing about it.  One of the nurses tracked down the LC and she immediately arrived at our room to walk me through the process.  The level of care we received at the hospital was beyond my expectations.

  • I had both of my sons there and I cannot say enough good things about the hospital, the nurses... really, the whole experience.

I will definitely have any future children there!

  • I had a great experience delivering my daughter there, although I didn't have a c-section.  I would definitely recommend the hospital and would definitely have no hesitation delivering there again if we have another child.  Both of my rooms were great, doctor and most nurses were great too.  I did have a little bit of a frustrating time with learning to BF due to differing opinions among the various staff members, but I think this is common at many hospitals from talking to other moms.

  • Thanks ladies. That was very helpful. I also meant to ask for doctor recs... TIA!

  • I also had a great experience there. My Ob/Gyn is Dr. Schmidt with Premier.https://www.premierobgyn.net/kristin-schmidt-md.html She's great and took tons of time with me and my notebook of questions every visit. I had an emergency c/s as well and all the nurses couldn't have been better during my recovery. I especially liked the nurse I had during her entire shift,Lesley. She actually stayed on with me after my c/s even though her shift had ended because I was having some issue from whatever they changed medicine wise for the surgery. She wanted to make sure i was well cared for before she'd leave despite the shift change. My only personnel issue was the on call Dr. when I was in the anti-pardum room. I found her rude and abrasive and said as much. She made some really inappropriate comments on my mental capacity...ummmm I was sedated and you woke me up.... of course I'm not going to be very coherent and maybe acting a bit loopy! Anyway, I made it clear to my current nurse I didn't want that Dr. anymore and she said she'd take care of it. I also let my Dr. know when she came for a visit. Funny they work at the same practice.

So, other than that little episode, I had a great experience. If you'd like more details, you can page or PM me.

  • I had a c-section with my son at MHK and had a wonderful experience.  The nurses were great.  And I second the recommendation of Dr. Schmidt.  I really loved her.  I have numerous family members that also see her.  In fact, she is my cousin's cousin, lol.

I assume you are talking about Dr Andrews because I had the exact same problem.  I was still on the Mag and she came into the room questioning me about my test results, blood pressure, previous birth, etc.  I had no idea what she was talking about because they really hadn't talked to me about my condition yet.  She was actually yelling at me when I couldn't answer if I had received the blood transfusion.  I started crying and she just got up and left.  Awful woman!!!

Patronella was my regular doctor and she was amazing!  Schmidt was the co-surgeon during my c-section and I saw her one day when she was on call.  Also a very wonderful doctor.  I would highly recommend either one of these doctors but pray you don't have to deal with Andrews... ever!
