My daughter is 3 weeks old. Is this the "right time" to start a bedtime routine - bath, Pjs, story, bed... ? She is still sleeping in the bassinet in our room - I'm not brave enough to put her in her big crib on the other side of the house yet! Anyway - just wondering how soon any of you began the routines with your little ones!?
Also - she currently sleeps during the night and we wake her up to eat every 3 hours, with one 4 hour stretch. The pediatrician recommended waking her up to eat so that she wouldn't get dehydrated. When did you start letting your baby sleep for longer stretches of time?
Re: When to start a bedtime routine?
We never woke him to feed. He started sleeping 3 hrs at a time on his own but did not regulate into any kind of predictable routine until after 8 weeks. Now he can go 6+ at night.

We only woke DD up until her jaundice cleared. My pedi recommended continuing after that... I got a new pedi. The new pedi is much more aligned with our parenting beliefs (he recommends attachment parenting, cosleeping, etc) and he definitely agreed that once DD reached her birth weight and jaundice was cleared, she could sleep as long as she wanted, unless she stopped gaining weight. And DD slept 5-6 hour stretchs from day one.
