PSA - medela storage bags...

...measurements are extremely inaccurate!

I pumped directly into the bag the first couple of times, using the little strap they provide (I thought it would be easier) well when I thawed it out to use what the bag said was 3oz was about half that and now that I pump into the bottles and then transfer to the bags it always says I have about double what the bottle does - very misleading!

  • I had this problem too. Next box of bags I buy I am going to try the Lansinoh ones they are half the price and several people swear by them.

I have the Lansinoh and I really like them. I was going to try the medela next, but now I won't. Thanks for sharing!

  • IMO Lansinoh bags are better, but aren't perfect in their measurements either. If you want accurate amounts, pump into bottles and write exactly how much is in the bag on it.

I do prefer Lansinoh bags as they freeze flatter and I haven't had any leak issues with them the way I did with Medela bags. Being 2/3 the price is nice too. :D

  • Gotta pop the bottom out wide and it is a little more accurate.

ditto. The lansinoh bags aren't very accurate either. You have to have them open perfect in order to get the right amount.
I pump into bottles though, so it's not a problem.

  • I freeze using the Lansinoh bags, after pumping into bottles.  If I use the Medela bags (and I do) it's only for pumping while I'm on the go, so that I'm not carrying extra bottles.  I then pour into a bottle to use quickly as soon as I'm home.
  • i never had a problem with them... actually I thought they were dead on.

Make sure the bottom is open
