I'm pretty sure I'm feeling movements sometimes

Yes, it's early, but I'm almost certain it's the baby. Feels different than gas, and it's near the surface of my belly below my belly button. If I bend certain ways, it's like the baby is screaming "stop pinching me!"

Big Smile

  • Sorry, but I don't think the baby is anywhere near your belly button right now.

Yeah, I know. I said below my belly button. Like way below.

  • That would be really cool if it is indeed baby! what does it feel like? a lot of people say it's like flutters.

  • It could be!  They say every pregnancy is different.  Smile

Well this and I asked my doctor yesterday when I should start feeling them and he said typically week 20, for one baby so I should feel them a couple of weeks sooner because of twins.

And he added that if people are saying they are feeling them before week 15, it is pretty much just gas or other issues along with your growing abdomen.  Don't mean to burst your bubble, but I also thought you should know so that you don't freak if you stop having those feelings for a week or two.

  • Despite what krwys10's doc said, you CAN feel it before 20 weeks.  I will say that it really depends on, um, how much padding you have on your stomach and how the baby is positioned.  I know with Ethan, I felt him move around 15 or 16 weeks.  It was definitely NOT gas or other issues.  My husband could feel the pressure from the outside if I was lying down.  Now, 12 or 13 weeks, that I'm not sure.

If you reread what I typed, "He added that if people are saying they are feeling them before week 15, it is pretty much just gas or other issues."  I, and my doc, can believe that you felt your baby move at 15-16.  But before that is too early.

Yeah, I agree with all of this.  Don't forget that your uterus is growing and pushing into things...so even though you are feeling something in a spot that you haven't before, it's probably just gas...especially if you feel it when you bend over (pushing on your tummy would make the gas move around).

I will be honest and say that I have felt things lately that in no way "feel" like gas.  I never felt anything like them before...but logically I know it's gas, not the baby.  Baby is still really teeny.  We are just more in tune to our bodies now and are paying closer attention to things so I think that's why we feel things that are "different".

Well put Cherry Blossom.  When I saw how much my little two were doing flips and cartwheels on the u/s yesterday it has been making me hope I have been feeling them all day.  LOL  But I know that is unrealistic.

Yeah, I have to agree with the others. The fact of the matter is that a 12-13 week old fetus is not nearly strong enough for its movements to be felt. Unless you have a hulk baby on your hands. ;)

  • i am on my second pregnancy, which they say you feel earlier than your first....i had my NT yesterday and the baby was flipping and moving everywhere and i didnt feel a single thing.

with my first, i felt definite movement by 16 weeks and my doc thought i was fibbing. he said it was extremely early for a first pregnancy. but i knew thats what it was.

id say at this point, its not the baby. im sorry. wait a few more weeks and im sure you'll feel the difference.
