My 2 cents on BF'ing

I am in no way saying BF'ing is the only way you should go because I FF'd my oldest and she is perfectly healthy. But a PP commented in the last thread about having DH watch pumping videos and see big stretched out nipples. I really take offense to that. BF'ing IS NOT disgusting and for the record.... after 10 months of BF'ing I still have great boobs. ;)

Also my DH never once was grossed out by it and always found me sexy.

I normally don't point things out but that rubbed me the wrong way. Okay....vent over. :)

  • While I can see how that comment could have been taken as superficial, I think the poster has a sense of humor and that wasn't meant literally. Just my 2 cents. Big Smile

  • Thank you for posting that.  I really don't know the first thing about BF'ing and that post scared me a little. I'm glad to hear that you're doing it just fine and your DH still finds you sexy, I feel better now.

I can see pp's point that it wasn't meant to be taken literally. That makes me feel a bit relieved too.

  • Of course I don't know that it wasn't meant literally, but that's how I read it. I'm a sarcastic person, and sometimes I say things sarcastically on here and people flip a lid (not that you did that, but I'm just saying).

    And yay for awesome boobs!

DH and I joke that I'm so small that I won't have anything to sag anyway. Big Smile

I agree; that particular comment was a bit insensitive to those who have BF'd or plan to BF. And it was rather loaded, also...as in trying to discourage the OP from BFing (and for superficial reasons, which the poster mentioned herself).

That said, I get that everyone has differing opinions for different reasons and that's fine by me, too, so I took it with a grain of salt.

boulet - glad you still have great knockers. It gives hope to the rest of us who plan to BF. :)

Thank you. :) We did a K because SD is Karlee and DD is Kara. :) But I love it spelled with a C too!

  • I didn't really get that post either.  To each her own but I do not understand the "I don't want to breastfeed for selfish reasons" argument.  I plan to try my best (and I know it's going to be really hard once I go back to work).  If it doesn't work out, I won't beat myself up but it really is best for the baby.  I know formula-fed babies turn out just fine.  I just can't relate to not even wanting to try.

  • I'm just glad that even though we don't all agree, and even though some of us on here are very opinionated, the BF discussion remained civil. I've seen that topic turn sour too many times.

Thanks for being mature adults and discussing instead of attacking. Far too often, the bump is filled with "preachers" who try to convert everyone else to their ideals.

  • I missed the BFing drama but am happy to hear that great boobs are still possible after BFing! I was kinda wondering b/c mine are getting huge now and I only imagine things get a little crazy with all that sucking! Thanks for sharing :)

  • I know I was super nervous when I was pregnant with DS that I wouldn't be able to BFand was thrilled when it was way easier than I thought it would be.  I know it must be so frustrating for those who do want to BF to hear those discouraging thoughts!

  • Oh wow am I bad at acronyms.  When I saw this post, I had to click in to see what it was about because silly stupid pregnancy brain me thought BF'ing was an acronym for a sex act.  Hahahaha.

  • I exclusively breastfed for 9 months with DD. My boobs did not "deform" in any way but I will admit it was awkward when I was pumping for a freezer stash and DH would walk in.... I did feel very unsexy and like a lactating animal. It took a while to get used to for both of us.... (just the pumping part not the bfing)  I loved bfing and already miss it.

  • Hubby has been through two kids nursing and lots of pumping, and I'll admit pumping is weird, but he is way past Ok with seeing boobs anytime and anyway lol.
  • Aww...it was ME who said that! For the record, you could have just stated this directly to me, I hate to think I ruined your whole day! I in now way meant to offend you or your boobs. My very closest friend had a baby 6 months ago and I got the pleasure of having a "back stage pass" to all the beginning agony she experienced while breast feeding and pumping. What I meant, and SHOULD have said is that it hurt my boobs to watch her go through that. I was trying to make someone who doesn't want to breast feed feel better not those who do feel bad. There is a lot of negativity brought upon those of us who aren't going to breastfeed and I really was just trying to make her feel better. For the record, my dear friends boobs are still quite awesome!

Yeah, the whole BFing causes saggy boobs because they get bigger is a total misconception. As you (and I'm sure many of us) have already noticed, the pregnancy causes your boobs to get bigger. They're getting everything ready now to be able to start producing milk once you have the baby, regardless of if you decide to BF or not.
