Cat owners - random question

Do your cats like to be brushed?  One of mine likes it, one tolerates it, and the other one acts like I'm trying to rip her limbs from her body.  I rarely brush her because of it, but she had some mats so I had to do it (my cats all have long hair).

She was freaking out so much that the dog went upstairs and hid and the other cats sat there and stared at us like I really was trying to kill her.

  • LOVES IT.

he loves loves LOVES when I come at him with the brush. Goes nuts. Even more, he loves to push his face up against the bristles.

I think some cats love it & others don't though.

  • Our cat loves it!

Now, cutting their claws - that is a different story.

Two of my cats love having their claws trimmed.  I haven't tried it with the third yet.

This, our cat gets overly excited and starts trying to eat the bristles.  She loves the brush on her back.  Not on her limbs or stomach.

  • One loves it, one tolerates it.  Sadly the one that loves it gets such bad mats that I have to use scissors to get them out and he is terrified of the scissors for some reason.  I can usually only cut out 1 or 2 before he runs away, so it is a constant battle.

  • The short haired cat LOVES the brush, she sees it and comes to rub on it.

The long haired cat that NEEDS to be brushed, yeah he HATES it. Grabs it and does the hind leg kicking thing to it. Or turns around and grabs onto your arm. So he has bald patches on his butt from where I shave the mats out.

  • two of mine will come when they see the brush.  they love it.  the third one hates it.  i have to alternate petting and brushing, or combing instead.  also have to catch her (sometimes literally) when she's in a good mood.

  • Mine all love it. There's usually a race when they see me going for the bathroom to see who can make it in. They only want to be brushed in the bathroom, door closed, alone. One on one time.

  • I have one of each like you. The weird part is the one that acts like she is dying is the one who's nails I can trim without even holding her down.
  • My short haired cat tolerates it, but his fur is so short it never mats. My long haired cat is okay with having her back brushed but doesn't care for her tummy, limbs, or tail. It usually takes both of us to give her a good brushing. And sometimes she will try to bite us or the brush. We usually let her bite the handle end of the brush to get out her frustration, then give it another go. Worse case we have to cut out mats, but that isn't often.
