I have to share my PG (again) Longish

Warning:  I know I am being obnoxious and selfish.  I just need to vent.

I was soooo looking forward to telling everyone at work about being PG.  (I am an elementary school teacher and work with mostly women.) The ladies  I work with always are very excited and supportive about babies and weddings, etc.  A few of them had been asking when we were going to have #2 and I know they will be thrilled about this.

Anyways, when I was PG with DD, another girl announced she was pg (literally, about 2 hours after I started telling people) and due a week after me.  She complained all the time about being uncomfortable, hungry, tired, swollen, and pretty much everything else. She was no fun to be PG with.

We had a joint baby shower that ended up being all about her - she started opening presents while I was in the bathroom (it's not quite the same when she opens a rocking chair and then 5 minutes later, I open the same thing).

When her baby was born, she was a huge show off and always brought out pictures and talked about her baby which made me not want to 'bother' people with my DD.

Anyways, she just announced she is pg again (before I had really told many people).   Ugh. Oh, and my classroom just moved right next door to hers so I will be witness to everything.

Thanks for reading.  Now I will try and put away my b!tchiness.

  • meh. I bet people prefer the nice pregnant lady to the bitchy one :)
"Hello, babies. Welcome to Earth. It's hot in the summer and cold in the winter. It's round and wet and crowded. At the outside, babies, you've got about a hundred years here. There's only one rule that I know of, babies. God damn it, you've got to be kind." - Kurt Vonnegut

  • Sounds like a peach. Huh?

Sorry you have to deal with all of this all over again...and right next door to her!  Just know that other people recognize the grace you handle pg with as compared to her constant AWing and complaining.

At least this time you won't have a shower with her! Smile

  • that should make for a fun year... sorry you have to go through this again. I think people will respect you more for not complaining as much as she does.

My SIL was PG with her second the same time I was PG with DS (10wks ahead of her) and since I didn't complain about anything that pretty much paved the way telling her that she had nothing to complain about if I wasn't. I know everyone is different, but maybe this time around it won't be so bad for you.

LOVE this!  I didn't even think of that!

Thanks so much for the support - I was prepared to get flamed for this post.

  • I agree with the above comment. I bet all your coworkers appreciate you aren't like her. She sounds like quite enough to handle.

Maybe she'll even deliver her baby in the classroom just so she can show off to all her students, too.

  • sorry that you have to deal with that.

I am having a similar situation. This is my third time being pregnant and we are hoping a praying that we get to full term and have a healthly baby for once. About four weeks after we told our famlies I was pregnant my husband sister in-law annouces that her 20 year old son got his girlfriend pregnant. Now I dont want to sound like I am complianing but I am really big into famliy and as it is his brother does not come over for holidays much only for an hour or tow on their way home from her parents house. I was hoping to have the famliy all together now with us having a baby so all anuts and uncles would be over. But since my SIL son was not careful my pregnacy will be over looked and it will be all about him. Did I mention that he does not work and drinks underage and was arrested last week with is pregnant girlfriend in the car. and his mother's response to all this is well hopefully being a father will make him grow up.

  • That is annoying. Wonder if she will complain the entire pregnancy again? Ugh....At least you will be prepared for her 'behavior'.
