Have I told a rich sister story lately?

Ok, for those who don't know, my sister married rich.  Like, seriously wealthy.  Her last vacation was on the Queen Mary II. She is 26, really spoiled, has never worked in her life, and hates being a mom.  Enough said?  Anyway, she planned a trip to Sri Lanka to work with elephants. Which I thought was unusually noble and fully supported.

First, she got mad at me for asking the name of the organization that she was going with.  She is going by herself, so I wanted to be sure it was legit.  I mean, really, it is Sri Lanka!  This (to her) meant that I thought she was a baby and irresponsible and she threw a hissy fit and told my mom that I thought she was an idiot.

Then, she told me she was routed through India.  I said "do you have a visa?" to which I got some huffy response about how she knows what she is doing.  Mind you, I have spent the last 7 years working in immigration and with visas!!  SEVEN YEARS.  Needless to say, she got to the airport, they discovered that she did not have an Indian visa and refused to let her on the plane. 

I did NOT say I told you so.  But I did.

    Why not? I would!

    Because it is so not worth it.  She would throw an epic tantrum that would leave me traumatized for life.  Avoidance is pretty much how I manage to keep speaking to her.

    Hopefully the personal satisfaction is enough to offset that desire to say I told you so. Good for you for keeping the peace.

    It's sad that people can be so spoiled.

    I'd probably make a passive agressive comment that would have the same message as "I told you so" but you could deny meaning it that way Wink

    Well, I might have gone that route except that she didn't tell me directly this happened.  She told my mom, and so I will just pretend that I don't know so that we don't have to fight about it. 

    Kind of like when she had liposuction and pretended to be really sick and bedridden because she was too embarrassed to tell me she had lipo.
