Because I refuse to hang out there this time around.
This past week, all of a sudden my jeans are getting tight at the waist. My rings are still about to fall off so I don't think its bloat. It was practically overnight. I was planning to buy a few maternity things in the next week or two but I'm still iffy because I still have this fear lurking that I'm going to lose it before I need them. I'm timid to even buy a belly band.
My pants or clothes are in no way too tight to wear or in danger of that (I don't think) in the next week or so but I am curious because this seemed to happen so fast.
How far along were you when you noticed your clothes getting tight?
How far along were you when you NEEDED maternity clothes?
I know, I know...everyone's different and we've discussed this before .....so flame me if you must. I can take it. LOL
Re: 1st tri-esque question
I bought a BeBand last week and almost hyperventilated at the check out for the same reason.
I get it, love.
:::hugs:::
I had horrific bloat with DS, and was in maternity by 6 weeks or so. It was just so much more comfortable, and I had them from DD anyway.
I can't remember when I was in maternity with DD. I was definitely not showing at 5 months-- I didn't really pop until 27w. I was a bit overweight though. But I think maybe 16w?
Last time, I was wearing Bella Bands by now and was getting close to maternity clothes. This time, I'm still in my regular clothes except my normal jeans need a perfect button or whatever they're called. I went up a size earlier on when I was super bloated, but when the bloat went away I could wear them again.
Also, there is zero correlation between my bloat and finger swelling.

Okay, that's interesting. When I bloated around 5 weeks, it was like I bloated all over, so I assumed this time it may not be bloat since it was just at my waist.....hmmmm (I know, I shouldn't assume). I'll hold out this week and see what happens.
I admit I have been drinking Caffeine Free Coke pretty much daily to help with nausea so it may be bloat. Thanks!
By 9 weeks I was in maternity pants. I probably didn't NEED them, but what was the point of being uncomfortable? Most of it was bloat and I didn't start sporting a real belly until later, but I still loved my maternity pants and don't regret my decision to start wearing them that soon.
Some people swear by the belly band but it was just a huge pain in the ass for me. I say go for the stretchy comfy maternity pants and don't look back!!!
Ugh, I HATED my belly band so much I gave it away.
I'd go with some maternity pants. Gap has some nice styles that are low waisted and don't look like they are maternity.
I'm kind of glad to hear other people switched over to maternity pants in the earlier weeks. I don't really love the BeBand, and have been sitting around in PJ pants while I work (from home) because it's just so much more comfortable.
I know it's bloat, but it still makes the pants tight!
Of course, today's bloat was less than yesterday's bloat. So, panic and fretting has begun.
Stop that! My five week bloat didn't last but a few days AND EVERYTHING IS PERFECT!
Another reason I've been avoiding mat pants is I'm Tall and plus sized...haven't really found any I think are going to work for me. I'm going to try a pair out I saw at Old Navy as their pants are sometimes long enough without being Talls.
why do companies assume fat people are short? Especially fat pregnant people. I'm 6' and fat. Just because I'm pregnant does not mean my inseam shrunk to a 28...helloooooooo LMAO
