Babies: 3 - 6 Months

no longer sttn...what gives?

My Lo was sttn the night (9:30-5:30) and in the past week he has been up 3 and 4 times a night. I have no clue what is going on. When he wakes up around 12:30-1, we get a good nursing in and he goes right back down BUT then he's back up around 2:30 (we nurse again) and then again 4:00ish (and we nurse again). Has this happened to anyone else? I thought it might be a growth spurt because he's 3 months but it doesn't seem to be going back to normal. I'm back at work and if I don't get some sleep I'm going to go CRAZY!

Re: no longer sttn...what gives?

  • Yup. About the same schedule, too. It lasted for about 5-6 days and then last night, she slept from 830-6! I was only giving her 2 ozs at her feedings tho. Just enough to get her back to sleep. I think it was her teething or possibly a late '4m wakeful'

I know exactly what your going through. I walked around like a zombie for those days and it wasn't fun! I hope you get sleep soon!

  • This is happening to us right now, too.  I'm also newly back at work, and barely functioning.  I wish I had some advice....

how old is he? mine went from only waking up once to waking up 2 or 3 times this week.  It could be teething or he could be working on a skill like rolling or sitting up

  • He's 3 months. Could be teething. Hadn't thought about that waking him up.
  • DD is doing this exact same thing and she just turned 3 mos. She gave us two days in a row where she STTN, but before that she'd sleep til at least 4, eat, then go back to sleep. Now all of a sudden she'll be up at 1, then again at 4, and be overall pretty restless all night. Hope it's just a growth spurt and will be ending soon!
  • Same problem here! DD used to sleep for 11 to 12 hours straight. But the last 3 nights she has been waking up. 2 nights she woke up once at 1AM and once she woke up at 1 and 4. She is teething, so I may try a chilled paci instead of feeding her...
