What chores do you defer to DH now?

Or whoever you may have to help out. I refuse to carry loads of laundry up and down 2 flights of stairs anymore. I always ask DH to take it down in the morning before work and up to put away when he gets home. What do you enjoy getting out of now? :)

Re: What chores do you defer to DH now?

  • Carrying anything heavy and doing the dishes.  We would alternate on who did the dishes, but once I got pregnant and had the 1st trimester fatigue, he took over dished full time.  LOVE getting out of that one since it's probably my least favorite chore.

  • Just the cat litter!

  • The following is the list he does: __________________________ and done!  LOL, I'm almost serious.  He has been helping me when I go to the feed store by moving the chicken feed and hay bales I need and then putting them where I need them when we get home.  Other than that though, it's still all me.
  • Definitely taking out the trash and dealing with anything that smells. I got sick in the beginning because I took out the trash. I am NOT doing that again!

  • just the cat litter here too...although he's getting out of it pretty much by 'splurging' on the new automatic litter box *rolls eyes* other then that, it's all me...

I am so jealous! I've been wanting a chicken coop forever, but DH said no.

DH has been good helpful with cooking, doing heavy lifting, and with watching the kids more often. He's been urging me to nap more and to go out and make friends. He's so good to me :)

  • Well...when I was in college I worked in the dietary dept at the hospital for five years.  So I washed dishes for 150 people for 3 meals a deal plus snack times.  When we got married my hubby took over all dishes and I did the cooking.  Occasionally he does both when I am feeling sick or really tired.  I don't lift anything too heavy either, but the rest I am doing.

  • DH carries the laundry downstairs for me too!  He also changes the cat box and takes out the trash.  He has also stepped up big time with making (grilling, hey that counts!) dinner.  He will even vacuum if I ask him to (after I get him to lug it downstairs because the vacuum cleaner is so heavy!)  I appreciate all his extra help so much, he is really being sweet to me.

  • Unloading the dishwasher, It hurt my back prior to do it but it's worse now, and bringing the laundry basket to and from the laundry room....sometimes running the vacuum.

  • Anything smelly, sometimes cooking.  I've got him changing more of DD's diapers, especially the poopy ones.  As I get bigger, I'll have him carry the laundry up and down the steps, but it's not an issue yet.

  • Mowing and lifting DD out of the tub and crib.  Those stationary cribs are hard on my back and bulging belly!

  • He's always done the handy-housework, heavy lifting and all the yard work since we've been together but the one I love most that he does now is when he cleans the bathroom! I hate cleaning the bathroom, haha. Oh and add sweeping/mopping the floors and cleaning the kitchen countertops. =)

  • DH now carries out the trash (he did this before, but i would do it if he wasn't around, now I refuse lol), carries up and down the laundry, and does any heavy lifting/climbing, etc.  He used to help out a teeny bit more, like with dishes and starting the laundry, folding it, but I got laid off in June, so now I'm home all day and I do all that stuff. Boo

  • Def the cat box, but we got a liter robot which is soo much easier than a nasty old liter box. Also carrying heavy things around the house like laundry (washer/dryer is in the basement..ugh).  Oh yeah and grocery shopping he gets the 24 packs of water which can be a bit heavy.  He's a good helper and I'm lucky.

  • I have DH do the laundry too, unless it's a small load.  And he carries everything else that is heavy.  He also is really nervous about rlp, so when he sees me bending, he comes to help.  :o)  My first pregnancy, cleaning solutions made me nauseous, so he dusted and cleaned floors.  Can't claim that now.  Plus, I'm a SAHM, so I feel like I should do the cleaning while he's gone.  Which is what I should be doing now, but instead bumping.  :o)
  • Lugging the laundry up and down..although he did this before sometimes.

    Bleaching the bathroom

Pretty much anything when I feel lazy:)

  • Oh ya, grocery shopping and putting away and vacums

  • Just the heavy lifting and handy work around the house-if I work a 14 hour day, sometimes I come home to the dishwasher emptied, which is always a nice surprise =)
  • Man, I suck at this. Since I am home in the summers I do everything, except the cat litter. When I go back to work on Monday things are gonna change!
  • I pretty much do everything still.
  • For sure carrying things up and downt the stairs so I don't fall.  He's been carrying more stuff in general.  Not that it's necessary b/c most of the stuff weighs less than what I lift at the gym.  But I like it! lol
  • I have to go to the laundromat ot do laundry so he carries up and down the stairs to and from the car.

He does the dishes (which he did most of the time anyway)

He changes the cat litter (thats one chore I def don't miss!)

  • DH told me he would take over the bathroom cleaning because of the chemicals and leaning over the side of the tub however...................... he cleaned the bathroon once and that's it, ive been doing it. so i guess he's not doing anything.
  • DH does all the heavy lifting, like the 40 lb dog food bags, takes the trash out (which he did before), and the yard work (which he also did before), but he still won't pick up dog poo (grosses him out and he says they're my dogs not his).  He is good about helping me clean up on the weekends if we're having company and doing a big clean, but since I'm not working now I figure I can do most of the work around the house.
  • Dh has bathroom duty and soon he will be the one doing all the laundry carrying since we live in a 2 story house and the laundry is in the basement
